Best Place in Chamonix

anyone know of the best resort for all around skiing in chamonix? or maybe your top three. I have never been there but am going in december. if anyone will be there let me know or pm me.
 
They are all sick. I would focus your skiing on Grand Montets. The runs from the top of the tram are sick. Steep, and wide open with some nice cliff bands toward teh bottom and shoorts. But like the person above said, get a guide so you don't fall down a crevase. You'll be skiing and all of sudden you look to your left or right and there is a whole in the mountain. Guides are reasonable..you can get one for like 1000 a week. But make sure he's cool. We had a dick for a guide on the day we did L'aguile du midi (the run that is like 20km from peak to valley) and it kinda ruined it.
 
watch some warren miller movies. every single fuckin one has like an hour of chamonix in it, its like his viagra.

I'm going there right before Xmas as well. How's the apres-ski there? Are people from all over the place or only frenchies?
 
I would focus on Grand Montets, but other nice areas as well. there is free and effective busstransfers between all areas. You should definitely go up to aguille de midi as well, 3800 metres of spectacular view and skiing. but up there youre better off skiing with someone with local knowledge due to crevasses( doesnt have to be a guide). I stayed there for 3 months -01. great place, and no, there`s not only frenchies there. alot of swedes, norwegians and other europeans and americans there etc. stick to the scandinavians if you wanna party. have a nice trip. let me put it this way...

i arrive in lyon, france for about a week. I have no plans for anything and will be going solo. I wanna do some skiing but not sure where. I am open to suggestions in the french alps. Dont want to go farther than that.

tips, places, etc.?
 
les2alps is near grenoble kinda. i skied there like 5 summers ago, their park was sick then, so i imagine its crazy now if ur into that. pretty cool underground train to the top n shit too, its fun, but it is a glacier so i dont kno what you wanna do while ur there.
