what do you think it is? ive only been to a couple but i think that spirit is in the top 3 and we will see but i bet welch will be really good this year. what do you guys think?

well midwest is a big area i would say MM. as for mn it useualy is Spirit, wild, and hyland, but i am a bit worried about hyland this year i am going to try and influence the park as much as i can(i did alot of work on the jumps last year to make them nice)

I would definatly say Spirit is the top in the state (MN). Ive never been to Marquette but that is supposed to be awesome. Also Wild had some really nice big hits last season and good rails. Welch is going to step it up this year but I heard that next season is when they're really going to make a push to be the best in the midwest. So my top 2 would probably be Spirit and Wild. Nothing else in the state really compares to those two. I definatly want to get a look at Marquette, Tyrol, and Cascade this season though. Those places are supposed to be pretty dope.

WARNING: Pregnant women should not take Zocor because it may harm the fetus.

I really hope that Welch steps it up. I live in winona and there really isn't much down here and welch is only an hour and 15 from my door

if your talking midwest brah. totally MM but in MN spirt tops em all and then wild welch better step it the hell up because i mean i can walk there for cryin out loud and i was sick of going there last year i did so much urban and skiing at my friends golf course (huge hills there) but yeah if welch steps it up it will be nice.

spirit for sure has a sick park but i don't see them pushing up a 70 ft table at the end of the year like MM does. i'm sorry from what i've skied spirit is in second. but you are right about the possablities but until some of the mangement wise up and let's you do whatever. and i emphais some most of them are cool theirs just two or three that are to over protective.

We had a 70-75 footer up for about a month or two. and two 65 footers after that. Look for alot more unique rail setups and big burly rails as well, we also added a 16'x32' wallride to replace the quarter pipe. Wen we get things up I will post video on this site and on www.marquettemountain.com

marquette is okay i guess. ive never been there when they had good jumps.

little switz has nice little jumps with skinny landings. they only have a flat down box like 8 feet long though.

sunburst is my favorite for some reason, cause they have a nice jump with nice rails, and its only 45 minutes away.

cascade is yummy sometimes.

and tryol is gr8, but not 2 gr8 4 tv.

I'd say the best park is whatever one opens first, has good jumps and rail's, and closes the latest in the season.

Skiing the Midwest

Representing Spirit Mountain, Powder Ridge, and Buck Hill

spirit has some good ideas, but last year for mso the park sucked, the tables were small and the big air jump was hardly 35 feet (i measured with my ski)

freezy, at superpark marquette did have tiny landings, that's cuz it was mid-april, midwest skiing in april isn't that great.

OK here it goes...... Tiny landings? Or proper landings..... If a table has a good length 40+ feet, you would want to be about 15'+ off the deck...... thus a 25% grade or pitch on the take off..... Now because of gravity and week old knees you would you like a landing that is 10% grade and 90' long.... NO... Midwest kids like flat landings! Not at MM..... The landings are big and steep because you are UP 15'-30' off the deck/ground.... if you like the wussy Evil Canevil 10% grade distance jumps go out west, the runs are longer and you can sore 60’ and only be 10’ off the ground!

Here in the Midwest (or maybe just MM) we strive for hang time (on some of the jumps) not how many cars We could clear.

If I wanted to go the distance and feel the speed I would jam to some Cake on my disk-man and do a rail to rail transfer.

I bet 20'+/- off the deck. MM is best by far……

Any one have rocket skies?

Evil did not attempt to jump the Grand Canyon. His rocket cycle attempt was over the Snake River Canyon. Robbie his son successfully jumped a very narrow section of the Grand Canyon just a couple years ago(guessing around 250-300 feet)

I only consider it a sucess if land on two wheels. Robbie has a bad habit of clearing the jump and crashing on the other side.

I once jumped from one spot to the same spot........... and made it.

Stay Tuned Kiddies!

PS… MM Park Focus should be on the smaller Beginner / Intermediate Park!

The big shit is the shit we don’t need to fuss with that stuff as much…..

Peace hippies!

kodine, since spring of 2000 we have always had a 50'+, not till last spring at Midwst SuperPark did MM Park get credit for its huge ass jumps!

Always have had the biggest and will hopfully continue in that direction!

Yes MM Park has a 50'+ open all season long.... we have also had that for a few years running! Gerage hit any one?

freezy, i don't agree with anything you had said (just my opinion) but how can you saw marquette doesnt have a good view, you're looking over lake superior for cryin out loud!

no doubt, sit back on the couch, pants down, rubber on, set to turn that ass out. Laid the bitch out, then i put it in her mouth, pulled out, nutted on a towel, then passed out.

I'll give you that, if we had one complaint it is that we have to share the park lift with the main chair, but what is really cool is that eveyone can watch us as we ride. KIDS LOVE TO SEE THAT SHIT.

for those of you not firmiliar with where our park is: IT is on all of CHUTE AND part of SNowfield, the picts above show it well.

the other two parks are as follows.

1) From contour down to the cut over to new ridge runs, for beginners and intermediate park.

2) Sudden Drop park: all of the run Sudden drop, this park has an inbounds cliff drop about 20 feet.

Marquette Mountian is the best Park in the midwest! Doubt me? Try us I Double dare you

you've got to be kidding me, that trail map was drawn in the late 70's, plus it doesnt show ANY of the rock faces at marquette, if you have REALLY skiied marquette other then just ride the park and the lift next to the park then you would actually know there is many features and great skiing aside.

inbetween almost every run at marquette there is some rock cliff that is great for skiing with a little pow and two gladed runs which also aren't shown in that map, powder days at marquette are better then any regular park skiing.

i like spirit, it's a good place but it really doesn't have anything on marquette mountain

best places to ski in the midwest aside from the park:

1. mt.bohemia

2. mont ripley

3. marquette

4. spirit

yea man spirit is good but they dont really take care of the park since i live here and they let everything get icy, and the jumps r kinda small

Matt, Will you be in the midwest this winter?

If so I will let you know when we get our park up, It might be a little while.

One thing that marquette lacks, is snow making capacity, it's not that we don't have enough guns, it's more of a power and water restriction.

The Manager at Marquette is totally down for what i'm doing with the park, Recently we recived 400' of round 2' pipe for all new boxes, along with our new wallride, and the 6 pre-bent pipes that cost $750 for our new C and S-boxes.

Not to mention he's giving me and my co-worker, Josh Bachus, 40 hours a week to build new rails.

I'll see yall at the hills this week.

later, Shelby

mm sounds really awesome, and id really like to hit up their park. as for all around skiing, a group of my ski buddies and i are headin up to mt bohemia this winter for a couple of days. heard its the closest to 'backcountry' you can get in the midwest.

the rope tow is behind the shop, just past the pond, check out how tall the support towers are for the thing, Randall wanted 20 foot tall towers on it. Way too big. Jim has got some pretty good ideas for the park. He wants to put 9 rails, 3 beginner, 3 intermediate, and 3 advanced. Also a couple of tables. You will be able to access it from giv'ener or powerline, it will be on the skier's left, you can't miss it.

I have never met you before but I hate you regardless
