well cleary nothing is going wrong in Tahoe....it has been so cold lately and in the last 2 weeks we have gotten 190 inchyes of new snow

^well seeing how they have melted 70% in the last 100yrs it will take less than 50 to melt entirly. which is in our life time. and i dont know if u read the part on how they procvied most of the fresh water for that area but we are going to have to start paying huge money for fresh water pretty soon. id call that a big fucking deal dumb ass

Because once the snow caps melt it will start another ice age. In fact this type of thing happens quite a few times over millions of years. Yes there will be a short period of warmer weather but that will affect the conductive flow of water in the ocean. The affected flow of water will then allow the snow caps to grow again, hell we might even be glacier covererd as far south as PA. Of course none of this matters becuase WE WILL ALL BE DEAD!

 
^^ dont speak again especially if you try to make the things in day after tommorrow acurate. the person who said they are exagerating is right. glaciers are receeding because the rate they are melting is lower then the rate they are growing which has to do with snowfall. yes global warming has to do with it but most of its the earths weather patterns like the jet stream which control the weather. the overall trend is for warmer weather but we will still ses really cold and snowy winters for the rest of our lives. it fluxtuates (sp) lately weve had some shit winters but next year we could get dumps of snow and there are places tahoe that are gettin hammered just depends where the jet stream is flowing. the jet stream just moved in a way that maens east coast is on the north side of it which means we will get lots of storms and will be on the colder side of it. tahoes big snow is over whister should be gettin some good snow in early feb-march so will east coast.colorado will get around the same amounts theyve been gettin.

Actaully I never seen The Day After Tomorrow. But it could be that they used real science theories to help along their blockbuster plot. I like my scerario better than the world turning into a heat box, although sand sking looks like fun. Scientists usaully figure out that their theories are wrong after a while anyway. But I have to agree that this could be the worst winter I have seen in PA yet. I thought the season we only had like 16' was bad... I am still waiting for a 1' of real snow in mid Jan.

The worlds overall tempeture is withing a 1 degree average all year. If it is warm in one place, it is cold in another. It's not like the earth moves closer and then further from the sun, which would affect temperature.

skier150 is right. warmer water currents cause by global warming break of large sections of the arctic and antarctic iceshelfs and move icebergs into warmer waters, huge peices of ice move and melt disrupting ocean temeratures and changing the temp of the ocean by a few degrees. just like you body the overall temp of the ocean doesnt fluctuate. it stays at one temperature. by changing this just abit, the earth can become a much colder colder place. what happened in the day after tomorrow is somewhat correct, but the real aftermath would be caused by the snowball effect. if glaciation reaches a certain latitude the earth will become completyly covered by snow and possibly never recover. this wont happen soon, it will happen millions of years from now. and ski150 is correct so whoever told him to stop speaking should shut the fuck up.
