Best mounting position on hellbents

I have mine 4 back and they do great, although I do sometimes wish that they were a bit farther foward for landing switch in stuff. I would say 2 back.

I have my 189's at core. They do good there, i have heard 1.5 is really good. i think thats where ANdy mahre has his.

Don't listen to the people telling you to mount at core center. I mounted at +5.5, which is 2 ahead of K2 recommended. They ski great both forward and switch, and I've never had any problems. Definitely a little more versatile on soft groomers, but still excellent in powder.

I heard you want to mount as close as possible to center that you are comfortable with. There is plenty of float from the rocker that you dont have to worry about that, and you want to mount closer to center because that is where the ski is the stiffest.

if you mount to far back then you get out of the stiffest part of the ski and its prone to wheeling.

You are a goomba.

Mount them at true center. If you think into it any more than that about how many cm's back from "core center" you should go, you are also a goomba. True center.

My hellbents are mouned at +6 and there great, depends on your weight to if you weigh more i suggest you dont go center on the 169 or your tips will dive in the deep snow. Go +6 they ski great backwards and forwards they are a dream

buddy of mine has em on -1,5, dunno if its geom center or 1,5 back from factory recommendation...

Probably 1.5 from center.

Because 1.5 from recommended is way back that is pretty much traditional.

Plus 1.5 back is a popular place to mount.

well are you used to skiing a symmetrical ski? if so i would go as close to or exact center if you do a lot of skiing switch imo.

i think thats wat im doing but i still have like a week till the binding brakes and or skis even come so i like to be informed as much as possible

Just mount them at core centre. thats the centre of the running surface and I generally find that to be the sweet spot on heavily rockered skis with no camber underfoot.

well im thinking that landing hard in pow might be hard at core center cuz i might flip over the bars but like i said i have a while still to decide so keep em coming

I've found that +7 ish is the money spot on my 189's. You want to be pretty far forward. Much further back and there's not enough ski behind you that actually touches the snow. it's such a fat ski with such big rocker, even mounted forward will give you awesome float and no tip dive.

going 1.5 from center thanks for some great help but if you still want to post here and help out some other kids here feel free i will mount em probly on thurs.

Very good to hear! I'm gonna get Hellbents (179) and thought about mounting 2 cm back from true center. Is it a good mounting point? Park (40-50%), groomers (30%) and powder (20%). Regular (60-70%) and switch (30-40%).

the last person that had them at -2.to avoid another set of holes i didn't remount.
and yes, 1.5 does make a difference. Goomba.

oh sean you're just in a stinky mood because they took away your orange name.because if i recall correctly, you've had a couple pairs of 189 bents.

Yeah, it sounds crazy. I tested them though and loved them so that's what matters to me. I'll keep my Elizabeths and they're gonna be a rail/jibbing ski, the Hellbents will be more for jumping. They're such a stable landing platform.
