Best Mountains in Tahoe??

This. Or Squaw. They have a great college deal and great terrain. If you get a cheap enough deal, I would also encourage you to get a college pass at June Mt (sister mountain to Mammoth). It's three hours away* but it's only $99 for college students and super fun if you have reliable wheels and want to do a couple weekends out of town/see more of California (aka Truckee), plus the drive between Mammoth and Tahoe is absolutely breathtaking and usually not bad even during peak season time.
*Only about an hour and a half/two hours away when it's springtime.

Nope. Alpine's pass is way fucking better - and this is coming from a Squaw Passholder.

Squaw's college pass is 369, with tons of blackout dates, and you cant ski saturdays during january and february - which, I know... why would you want to ski saturday? every weekend warrior in the land comes out that day... but sometimes - usually, you could end up having that day off and want to ski - or maybe it just dumped a fuckton - so you want to shred. I dont like meaningless blackout dates like these... not a fan.

Then... look at Alpine's. 299 (70$ cheaper) AND YOU GET HOMEWOOD TO SKI AT TOO. There ARE blackout dates, but they are christmas, MLK day, and Prez day - typical just like any other time. There are no saturdays blacked out for a 2 month period... nothing like that - and you get the same terrain, same snow, a high quality park, and a little more of a Local atmosphere... AND a whole entire other mountain to ski at with Homewood - which has incredible tree skiing, lake views, cheap food, good beer in the bar, solid snowfall, and on top of that, during those stormy wind-hold days at alpine/squaw? you go to homewood and its still open to the top - yay wind protection.

So - if in Tahoe, deciding between these two resorts based on college pass, for me... its an absolute no-brainer. Get an Alpine Pass. /thread.
