Best mountain/resort to work at

I'm thinking of going to either us or canada at the end of the year to get a job at a mountain. Can anyone give me any ideas as to some places which have a good reputation to work at? and what the best mountains are for a good ratio of park/pow?
 
I recommend you DON'T work for the big guys if you're looking for a good work environment. Go to the smaller, non corporate ski hills where you actually feel like a person, not a number.

I'd also say: beware of staff housing. I don't like the idea of an employer having control over your skiing, job, and housing. screw up in one of those things and you loose all three. not exactly the ideal situation.
 
i really enjoyed working at Keystone.

Yea...huge resort...owned my VRI... corporate...yaddd yadda....

but the upside of large corporations is that they are able to provide benefits( health ,dental, vision, 401k) that smaller independant resorts cannot. Sure, you may be a # in the eyes of the Chair members, but with in your department, you are valued.

but to the OP, just find a place that you think will provide the best atmosphere and experience you are looking for.
 
The ski "resort" I recreate is not very big, not really corporate (they like to believe they are - hence the "resort" tag instead of ski area) but they have a good medical plan. They are unique though - see, they're part of the steel workers union.

personally I think unionizing a ski hill doesn't work. it's just lead to a bunch of employees doing a shitty job at what they do (on all levels of the "company" and no way to fire anyone.
 
lake louise was a wicked place to work. plenty of cliffs and big mtn stuff as well as lots of places to go touring, and our park was pretty good this year as well!

staff accom here isn't that bad at all and cheap to. living in banff is super expensive. Everyone gets to know everyone and it creates a rad environment! :)
 
How often did you ski/work a week, and what was your position at whistler. Highly considering trying to get a job there for next season.
