best mountain in MAINE

I've never been to the loaf so the obvious choice would be Sunday River

Watch out for Handi- Caps(baseball hats) and Handi skateboard decks coming soon....

sugarloaf because the other best place is sunday river and the people there just suck it up because you always get yelled at if you do inverted manuevers.....and because sugarloaf usually has a WICKED big jump for the freeride team dope stizzle...

its a tie between sugarloaf and sunday. sunday has the park and loaf has the glades and pow

i like to burn things

i can do a summersault

but ud be better off driving to vermont and skiing killington

Being Irish, I guess I should resent the Notre Dame nickname 'The Fighting Irish.' After all, how long do you think nicknames like 'The Bargaining Jews' or 'The Murdering Italians' would last? Only the Ironic Irish could be so naively honset. I get the feeling that Notre Dame came real close to naming itself 'The Fuckin Drunken, Thick-Skulled, Brawling, Short-Dicked Irish'

i cant ski im always depressed im 12 yrs old and 274lbs. somebody help me

'but ud be better off driving to vermont and skiing killington'

no thank you, i dont like killington. but i would be better off driving to vermont at skiing jay, mad river, smuggs, stowe, and okemo.

Just to let you know, sunday river also has boundary to boundary

yeah, i gotta give you that, however lost valley cant compare to the likes king pine in New Hampshire, and Nashoba Valley in mass.

I'm pretty sure Sunday River doesnt have border to border skiing. loaf has around 1400 acers since they started border to border. besides, as profitskier's signature states; the loaf rules over all of us

ski the trees

seriously, this thread is apparently making no progress at all..nonetheless:

I can't understand how anyone could say that Sugarloaf is better than the river. Someone please convince me, I'd like to see what you have to say

how does the loaf, 'just dominate'

ill make a score sheet

park-sr

terrain-sl

lifts-sr

weather-sr

snowmaking-sr

longer season-sr

natural snowfall-sl

its just a short list, but sr wins 5-2

if sunday river is where you ski mostly u will obviously say that its better sunday river has better parks but sugarloaf is abetter overall mountain and when i go up there i never wanna leave. the village is so sic and sunday river has nothing to do if u stay over night i say the loaf

me: what the hell is that?

sister:its a boat u dumbass

me:well what the fuck do they nedd it for? the shitheads

mmmmmmmmmm i ski sugarloaf everyday in the winter, i think it's to cold and they suck at making parks, so even the im a loafer since 2003 i think sunday river is better, i know i know but were freeriders and sunday river atleast gives there freeriders somthing to train on, but i hear the loaf is moving the park to a different hill and a new park guy so we will see.............

-peace my nizzles

skiing is so hot right now!!!

My pass to the river cost $599 this year vs $1049 at the loaf. And to the kid that said sunday river is only a group of hills...what is the Loaf? That isnt a real mountain either. Go out west or to Europe and see what a mountain is. And Sunday River does have a boundary to boundary rule, you just arent allowed to duck under a rope or ski under a lift if it is not an open trail. But even that is usually overlooked if there is powder.

shut up. the loaf has more vertical then toas and more acerage than aspen. sunday river has parks and lifts but thats it. the village at sl is awesome

THE LOAF RULES OVER US ALL

When Timberline is open Sugarloaf is the bomb. The park has come a long way and i tihnk that its just tons more relaxed atmosphere wise. My friend went to sunday river and he says sugarloaf no contest. I mean c'mon, Look at the Variety, its the best in maine.

You are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel when you mention the village as a reason your mountain is better. And sorry almost all east coast resorts are nothing compared to other places with real mountains and lots of natural snow. Go ski europe where they have 5000+ ft of vert and lift tickets are 20 dollars less. They dont have parks but if you are over there and thats what you want you need some help.

theprofittard, I've been to sugarloaf like 2 times every year for about 3 years, so, according to your reccomendations...I can talk shit about it. It's all preference, I like sunday river it suits my needs and sugarloaf doesnt. Whatever i dont care where you ski, ski at cold sugarloaf

so I hate to be arguing about this, but I want to defend my favorite mountian, Sugarloaf.

first, true, sugarloaf doesnt have the best park but so what? if you want to ski park, go someplace else. If you want to be scared shitless go to sugarloaf and find some hard lines. Second, it's not always on wind hold. sure, sometimes it is, but deal with it, hike have some hot coco do whatever you want. Third, if you think it's too cold, you're a fucking pansy. Wear some long underware and get over it. it is, after all, Winter when we ski and generally, it's cold in winter.

Go ahead and argue but it's fucking pointless if you ask me. Whatever mountian you like best, go to that. And to whoever started this thread, go to both and see how you like it.

ski the trees

sunday river was the best mountain ive ever skied, but im from toronto, i think anything with a 1000+ft vertical is huge.

Maybe Timeberline is always closed because sugarloaf has the only above tree line skiing in the Northeast? Ever think of that. Its normally windy up there. Where i ski we have 13 trails, 3 rails, and we have to build our own jumps. We have a t-bar as our main lift, and a ditch the owners call a halfpipe. Get over yourselves. I have practically nothing, but i deal with it, and i bet you all im just as good as a good prtion of you. Both mountains are great. Im just a sugarloaf fan because it fits my needs more

sunday river.

ive been to sugarloaf a few times and sure u could say it is better because it is a mountain and it has some sick hidden trails. but you could also say that about sunday river. Sunday river has a better park.Maine never gets powder in general. Niether really has a nightlife unless you want to go to AGC all night. Sugarloaf is very cold. But sunday river has so much of a better park. Better people ski at sunday river and it has a better atmosphere. I recomend sunday river but it all depends what you like.

give me some props here fockers shit'

Ok put the parks to the side. The loaf has a much better trails then the river. yes the parks might be better at the river. but the loaf has awesome all mt riding.

Ski Fast and Stay Away From the Trees

fuck whats this about ?

Me: Yeah, all the hicks and stuff in are school make in the hallway its gross.

Sisters bf: Well, they don't care. Their not leaving town, their just like 'Fuck it.'

Sister: Yeah, thats how i feel about law school right now, 'Fuck it, make out in the hallway.'

sugarloaf blows because it's always wiked windy, freezing cold, cloudy, the pipe is weird...they have no good rails... its not always like that, but its like that a ton ton ton more than sunday river is like that.

I would have to say that besides Sunday River, White Face has the worst weather... Last time I was there the ambient temp was -128 degrees below zero. It was so cold that they actually closed the mountain (which just sucks if you ask me). But Last time I went to Sunday River the winds at the top of the OZ bowl or whatever it is were like over 60 or 70 mph, That lift ride was a living hell...
