I got an Ironhorse Sinster paid 300 for it, full suspension and cable pull disc brakes, at that price range you wont find much for full suspension that is even capable of downhilling.
I did just buy a brand new Giant Trance X3, now that's a bike worth riding
for $100-$400 don't even bother. it would just be a waste of money. that goes for used bikes as well. when it comes to mountain bikes you're better off saving your money.
I was so stoked when I bought a mongoose from Walmart for like 180, a few months later there were soooo many problems. One of the pedals fell off, the seat reshaped my ass, the handlebar came loose, the brake had to be tightened, damn
don't mean to thread jack but I've been looking for a nice used bike to kind of get in to mountain biking and I'm just wondering what a solid bike would be? i'm 5'10" and my price range is probably around 500-600.
not quite anywhere near 400 but i got this yeti asr sl, perfect condition for 1800, yeti and moots make some fucking sick bikes straight from the Rockies. i own a moots road bike, and used to own a hard tail and they had to be some of my favorite bikes. (picture is not exactly the one)
i would save up and buy a dirt jumper, i got a specialized p2 frame and nice parts and put together an awesome bike for about 1k. if you know nothing about working on a bike then i would not recommend building one, the cheapest good bikes that are worth your money would be kona, specialised, and NS bikes.... yes NS makes bikes http://www.ns-bikes.com/ ns is higly recomended they make awsome bikes.
