101st airborne 506division 2nd batalion easy company. there former NCO made it all the way to major. they're the best. the were meant to be surrounded and they had all the hardest jobs. plus they had to deal with some of the worst conditions, not natural conditions but militaristic conditions. they constantly were losing CO's and stuggled to find leaders. they had to deal with some of the worst shellings at bastogne in the ardennes forest and the new invention of the german assault rifle. the new mg42 was revered and feared by all because of its large caliber ammo and very high rate of fire. they were always at the front of the line during d-day, brecourt, carentan, market garden, bastogne, foye, beglium, holland and the final assault on hilter's eagle's nest in the alps. i think easy company lost about 65 of its original men. easy company is the best in history.

training and weapons wise, (not considering passion and all...) I'd say the U.S. Navy Seals... just think of all the gear they have that we don't even know about yet (they had GPS in the early eighties, and it was declassified around the nineties), and just think of their track record, how many times do you hear of a failed Seal mission that resulted in a problem major enough that they couldn't fix it/keep quiet?

think about how many perfectly planned and executed missions have gone down without the public catching a whiff of it?? crazy shit. Being the elite force of the worlds biggest superpower has its advantages!

It would have to be Spartin, navey seals arent as well trained at some elit rescuse gruop, the name excapes me at this time. Read up on thermopylae, about 1000 or so spartin and greek men held off 40,000 persian for a like 3 or 4 days.

G G G G-UNIT!!!, no but sersiously some of the Marine Snipers from vietnam were crazy, i read a biography of one, cant think of his name right now, but he held off an entire battalion of VC units for 3 days with out being spotted, him and his spotter were the only US forces in a 30 mile radius. Now that takes mad skill and balls to fire that first shot not knowing if your gonna make it, and how long its gonna be, and they couldnt radio for help or they would be heard, think about that one

^^ yea the marine snipers were bar none the best spec ops had to offer in nam, theres this one dude,carlos something who was dropped about 150 miles deep behind NVA lines with the objective to kill one NVA general- a literal suicide mission and he crawled through the jungle for like 3 days and finally killed the general from about 1500 yds. he survived but he's dead now.

actually in response to the canadian military thing, i was reading in soldier of fortune that in asscrackistan a jtf2 team of snipers dropped a sand monkey terrorisr from about 2000 yards with a barret model 50 cal sniper rifle, breaking the current world record

101 air born was good but there where alot of other componies that did the same and not reconisded as much. The barbarins where good but romen legions at the high time of the romen empire where better. Barbains mearly came in at the right time.
