I'm a total noob at filming and was looking for insight as to the best all round lens for a hv30 for ski footage, If possible under $300

yes like the canon wd-h43 or wd-43 or another companies lens, or do you prefer a tele converter lens

raynox 6600 HD pro. i have it on my hv20, and it would look so baller on a hv30, being black and all. get the 52mm version, with a 43-52 stepup ring.

What are you trying to do with your camera? A wide angle obviously will give you a wider angle of view, and a tele converter will give you a narrower field of view, while giving you more reach. For skiing I'd suggest a WD-H43. You don't really need a lens that much unless your planning on doing follow cam shots and such.

if you check the raynox website, theres a picture comparison between the 2. for some reason, when you throw the stepup ring with the lens on, it creates about a mm or 2 of distance to the glass, and eliminates the image distortion that is found on the 43mm straight version

i bought a cheap wide angle from ebay (needed one fast and didnt have much money at the time) but it will be a while before I upgrade wide angles, I am actually fairly happy with the 30 dollar purchase haha..when zoomed in very close distortion is visible around the edges, but I normally don't zoom in that far..

the one fujative(my brother) is talkin about i believe we picked up brand new online for 100ish. never any distortion at all, but just not a good idea to zoom a ton with a wide angle cuz it really makes no sense, but works i guess if u need a little more zoom. and its a super sweet lense.
