Best kit for 60yo beginner

I wanna get some skis for my dad. He's almost 60 and a beginner, so I wanna get him a set of boots/bindings/skis that are comfortable for a beginner without holding him back once he becomes confident. He is like 5'3" and 150lbs and will probs just shred groomers but I want him to be able to enter the park or off-piste if he feels like it. He lives on the east coast.

Rn I am considering something from the ARV series but I wanna know what everyone else thinks.

or should I just get him Vishnus full tilts and Forza pivot 18s lol

Take him to your best local bootfitter in the autumn when they have a good stock of boots.

As for skis there are many dad skis from which to choose. For bindings...can't go wrong with some fluorescent green or yellow Attack 13s.

189 wets.

Really though, How many times has he skied? Has he outgrown rental gear stage and need/want his own stuff?

well actually I have been doing research and i been thinking, you should get 2 snow bourd about 169 length, and then put look pivot 18 forzas on those, and if your wondering why snowbourds it’s the width that will help his balance and when he is trying to slide your first rail. Hope that helps!

as [tag=254204]@mystery3[/tag] said for boots, take him to your local shop and have him get fitted. bindings honestly don’t matter that much for what you need, you can probably find some attacks under retail that’ll work just fine. as far as skis, i think you need to take into account how much he’ll realistically be able to progress and pick a ski from there. my brother bought me a pair of mindbender 99ti’s like a month or two after i started and i’ve definitely grown into them, as far as fully utilizing them. i’m also 16 though, so learning things comes much quicker than someone who’s in their 50s or 60s. idk your dad but 60 also seems a bit late and a little risky to start trying things in the park, so i wouldn’t worry too much about finding a somewhat park capable ski, unless that’s something he’s genuinely into.

ill be honest, i don’t think i’m qualified to give any specific ski recommendations for him. i haven’t skied either, but i see plenty of dads on nordica enforcers and volkl mantras, if all else fails i doubt you could go wrong with either of those. the east coast also doesn’t get the type of pow the west coast does though, so i wouldn’t go over like a 95mm waist. really though, maybe just have him demo a few pairs and see what he likes.
