Hey, whats your opinion on the best jacket? I need a new one. My enviroment is the East coast, High Wind and Brutal cold. What do you suggest?

man oh man... the age old question. heres wut my store would tell u... first and foremost... ur outer layer needs to be goretex... its practical (orage jackets have fabric almost comparible to the specs of goretex) its waterproof...windproof and breathable... and those are the three main ways u loose warmth... get one that DOEST have the 3-1 zip out liner... that creates a 2 inch strip down ur chest that isnt insulated. for the cold days just throw on a polyester fleece underneath ur jacket to add loft...kinda like insulating a house. DO NOT wear cotton underneath ur shell because cotton absorbes water which in the end defeats the purpose of ur jacket and freezes ur balls off. if ur really looking for a high end jacket that will kick mother natures ass... go north face.

I work at a ski shop, and ski and the coldest mountain in Canada, Tremblant. minus 40 days come pretty often and I was tired of being cold all the time. This year I bought a Salomon Pkcet Rocket down coat. Almost 2 pounds of down in this biatch. I got it from hookups from the salomon rep so it was cheap, but they still on retail around 400 cdn. Giver man, its a quality coat....

Honestly I ski in California and all along the west coast so I need something that is super steezy and super waterproof. It wasn't until last season I found a jacket that was ALL of these things and made me look like I knew what I was doing.
