I couldn't think of any instruments I really didn't like but I could think of a ton I did.

I like the piano a lot also. grand though, not uprights. the djembe is awesome. banjo's are fairly sick as well.

When played correctly, the violin is, in my opinion, easily the best sound that can be made. The piano is far more versatile, however, so you could make a case for it. Ultimately, it's how you play an instrument that matters.

I'm kind of expecting everyone to say guitar, though.

Anew, I know you probably expected me to preach the great virtues of my instrument, but it's actually a technically flawed design... I'm amazed we manage to keep it in tune in the upper altissimo. I hope noone finds a way to start making them to tune, or I'll be playing very sharp.

you know, i am a great lover of violin music, and there arent many peices out there that can rival a mendelsshon violin concerto, but my second fav... after the piano is the cello. that insturment has a broader range i think than the violin... played in tennor clef. that is one set of strings that can produce an emotional sound... i do love the cello...

jd- how was it that you came to be a clarinetist? most kids get pushed into piano, then rebel and play guitar...

No, I took private lessons long before I was of an age to have a school band. I chose the instrument. At the age when I started my teacher was actually concerned, because he'd never taught anyone as small as me and he didn't think I'd be able to get enough air into the instrument and maintain an embouchure. My brother was the one who started on piano. He now plays guitar (pretty well, too). Go figure.

that djembe was purchased in senegal. I used to have a djembe that I made (constructed, I didn't carve the frame but did the rest) and someone at a festival stole it. it sucked, but this drum is huge and sick and the best lead drum I have ever heard.

Drums...single most coolest instrument ever. No matter what you listen to, you can hear the crack of a drum break through the melody to balance out the song. I'm a little biast though because i just came back from drumline.
