I know that helmets these days are designed to stop concussions, but more intended to prevent catastrophic injury. But ive gotten three concussions all with Giro mx helmet and im sick of them. Most skiing helmets have the hard inner foam that doesnt do jack shit for concussions bc there is no give to it and your brain will still smack your skull. I'm thinking a helmet with a softer liner that will cushion my head when i slam it into the ground.. Any help at all is Appreciated

You can get a concussion in any helmet. Concussion = brain smashing again inside of head.

oh and for the third concussuion i actually had a mouthguard in and it was a shock doctor anti concussion mouthguard.

your lower and upper jaw don't smack together, break your teeth, and send tons of impact and shock through your head to your brain.

well after so many concussions i think i would take it as a sign and the DR should prob be close to telling you to quit getting them or your gonna be brain damaged for life

The new 08' Bern hard-dick will really protect your dome

that reminded me of that charlie brown cartoon where he cut too many holes in his sheet for halloween when he was trying to be a ghost

i think i heard from a reliable source that mouth guards dont do shit for concussions.

correct me if im wrong

Check out the Pro Tec Classic Skate. It, along with a mouthguard, is what professional aerialists use, and as I use one for both my bmx and my skis, I can tell you that helmets do not get any better.

Sweet Protection.... One of the only brands that make helmets that can take multiple impacts.... they're so sick. The new PK pro model is legit.

ya i wear a RED and i havent gotten a concussion that iu know of but i think if u get one a little big and then wear a hat to make it fit liek perfectly i think its more comfy and it gives me soem extra padding so ya but mouthguards help 2

Mouthgaurds do protect from concussions... I played football for a long time and thats the truth.

I also have gotten a concussion while wearing my Giro G10... yeah it sucked but I dont think there is anything else I can really do to prevent them... It was a head to rail hit.

I guess keep wearing a mouthguard and dont lead with the dome haha :P

you're wrong

a mouth guard won't help you if you hit your forhead for example, but if you hit your lower jaw, ie. knee to the chin, or something that would be like an uppercut the mouth guard is supose to help absorb the forces that would knock your brain around.

ski helmets are only functional below 18 mph. the average skier travels at about 30mph...

bike helmets are functional (safe) at about 25mph. the average biker goes about 45mph...

just some facts

yea sj, havent you gotten like 9 or 10 concussions now? but yea look into like a helmet made for higher speed or higher impact. like as odd as a ful face moto helmet or something like that may look, it could help you out. ill check into some other helmets for you tho...

how have u had so many concussions skiing??? i mean ive dealt with my fair share of falls but "damn"... well anyways i think a softer liner would prob help a lil but my best advice to u iz to land on ur skis instead of ur head for the remainder of ur days on the slopes

Sweet protection is the highest rated and only multi-impact helmet out there they have a carbon fiber that they are lined with to help with impacts as well as being very light check 'em out www.sweetprotection.com I really like the trooper halfcut

People are always complaining about no one every using the search bar and making new threads about an old topic.

This guy did it right and just added another question to a thread only one month old.

I don't see a problem with that.

Also I know im prob gonna start wearing a mouth piece this upcoming season when im riding park. And im prob going to use this kind since I used it all through college playing ice hockey and never got a concussion: http://www.shockdoc.com/mouthguards/pro.html

i've gotten concussions with 4 different brands of helmets. i take hard falls, and unless you have 3 feet of feathers around your head, there's not a ton you can do. wear a full-face moto helmet if you're having that much problems with it. like mentioned above. seriously.
