Best editing program

you can get creative with anything. dont be fooled by the cheaper programs like final cut express or even imovie. get those cause you sound like your a rookie.
 
ya its not even really all that complicated, it only took me a couple short edits to figure it out pretty well, granted there are probably a lot of tricks and things i havent found out yet but i've got a good feel for it now.
 
Yeah same here. It was only a few hours if that with me. I needed to be told how to create titles but that was it.

premier is ussualy what people move onto after they get done with a cheap program but fcp is probly about premier its not at user friendly but...and im pretty sure they have versions for pcs...and id suggest a mac if u get into editing
 
Seriously! Final Cut Pro is awesome, but it's all about Final Cut Studio 5.1! It's soo sick. And ya all the stuff said before doesn't even put a scratch on final cut!
 
Final Cut Pro is solidd...but its only good for throwing clips together. Its too basic for anything thats NUTS. If you want to make something thats DOUBLE NUTS then get Shake 4 for Linux or After Effects 7 for Mac.
 
After Effects is good too. But obviously you haven't used Final Cut Studio. It's good for everything. It's the software they use in professional movie industries that you go to the movie theatre to watch.
 
Haha I own Final Cut Studio. And all the crazy effects they do isn't done in Final Cut Pro. Its done in advanced composition programs like Shake. They just use Final Cut Pro to throw everything together in the end.
 
FCP is getting there. But it'll be a few years before it overtakes Avid in the film industry.

You can't compare After Effects and FCP. AE isn't really an editing software. It's a post effects software. It would be ridiculous to cut an entire movie in AE and it would be ridiculous to rotoscope an effects shot in FCP.
 
Yeah word. Use adobe photoshop CS2 for photo's and Sony Vegas is awesome for windows. You can do so much cool stuff with it. I figured it all out on my own and you can make anything with it. Any kind of edit.
 
i got final cut express for 250 bones. Students get a discount.

ITs pretty solid to make a professional looking edit and it comes with a title and soundtrack program which is pretty sweet. still learning the ins and outs.

If you want to just get into the game, i would purchase that, if you have a mac.
 
my friend has like 6 grand of editing software on this mac he just bought off ebay, like final cut pro and such, super super sick setup. only problme is theres an 800 page manual that coms with it and hes through like 200 pages already and cstil couldnt really edit a thing with what he knows
