Best east coast backcountry.

ya blue.... but i think it would be either lake placid, or jay. never been to jay but iv heard lots about it. but lake placid's slides are pretty good. only been to them in the middel of april thou, and i heard that the week before i was there (in april) they had 2 feet, and the slides were so nice.

personally i would say CT has the gnarliest backcountry EVER! go there. stay out of vt and nh, it sucks
 
There is a book out called the Adirondack Slide Guide, which I believe has information about all the slides in the High Peaks. Does anyone have this? I was thinking of picking it up, but don't want to waste the money.
 
you really cant "waste" money on something such as this and i highly recommend purchasing it. its not going to give you directions etc. but it will show you the slides and what they look like with a shit load of snow on them. pretty sweet book
 
Yeah, I have the book.  It is probably the best material to get started but wont get you much further then that, it gives you an idea for what the slides look like though so that you can further research particular slides and plan a hike.
 
Saddleback has some ill tree skiing if there is a lot of powder. It is in Northern Maine, so it usually gets hit pretty hard. Also, its dirt cheap but you need to take a t-bar to get to the summit.
 
hike up cascade mountain in the adirondack park and you can see about 10 differnt peaks with slides. bring along a map and find out what you are looking and then go on a reconasaince mission some other day.
 
That place sent me a brochure out of nowhere. Trail map made it look pretty sweet.
 
tucks is sick and last year at loon i dropped into the trees on sunset that link trail comin off north peak and there were some sick log rails and like 10 ft drops. its really tight and if theres no new snow i wouldnt go in. but it wasnt bad
 
Oops, forgot the rest of my post. I hear Camels Hump has some nice glades on it, haven't made it up there yet though. A lot of people ski Hell Brook trail off of Mansfield, shortest route up/down Mansfield, pretty steep. I'm sure there are a ton of sick spots in the Whites, but I'm not too familiar with them yet.
