Best digital camera for under 1000

looking to buy a good digital camera with fast shutter speed , high quality, all the good shit you woudl want in a camera for around 1000. what would be the best camera?

Probably have to be a little more specific. I mean you cant go wrong with a canon or nikon dslr but people have their own biased opinions so dont expect to get a consistent answer.

if you're looking for a good DSLR then i would suggest the nikon d70s. or the nikon d50.

I would get the Nikon d40x and then buy a couple of extra lenses.

If your looking at DSLR's, look at a canon Rebel XTi. They're a bit more expensive then the nikon D40 and almost the same price as the D40x but its a nice camera

Dont listn to this dude ^. Canon Rebels sucks shit, get a higher end Canon if your getting that brand.

Pentax k100d is good but not really good for action photography, but he k10D is good for it.

Can't realy go wrong with Nikon.

And sigma makes some pretty solid shit.
