Best Country

Thinking about Finland I have a scholarship that would make the whole trip $500 is all. I have also heard good things bout Finland. What do you think?
 
From what I hear it's absurdly cold, but awesome. Also, Finnish is a crazy language, one of the hardest to learn. And it's not even in the same family as the Scandinavian languages.
 
I did a high school year abroad in switzerland in 2005 and it was the best fucking year of my life. Go there... now I've been living in the Netherlands for a few years.. I worked for awhile and now I am studying. It is awesome here in the summer there are tons of cool/fun outdoor music festivals every weekend and indoor ski places (sometimes in weird, hard to reach locations. but they're there).. but a serious lack of terrain means that it totally sucks ass in the winter. If you are doing a summer abroad.. pretty much any big city in Europe is really really fun. If you are doing winter.. well it's pretty easy to narrow down your options. Find a place with mountains and snow and don't make the same mistake I did. ha.
 
Another guy I was with paid for me the first time, he didn't think I would.....

So myself personally, only $550 (talked one down to 250 GOML do you know how hard it is to negotiate when you have a boner? It's hard)
 
Australia for sure did a student ambassador program there it was dope as shit everyone is super tight and Aussies so ssssooo damn hard
 
I think I have narrowed it down to Sweden Spain Finland Germany France Which would be best. These all have the program I want area I want and have scholarships for me and I have to put them in order from first choice and so on
 
awesome, the people involved in the program are all really cool, and germany is a great country. the CB program is cool too, cause you get to travel to berlin and and cologne for free. it entails a bit of political work, meeting with politicians and such, but even that is an awesome experience.

only downside is that you could be very far away from skiing. i stressed skiing heavily on my application, and i got relatively close and was able to ski almost every weekend.

never stops raining, always cold (wet cold, not nice crisp cold) a lot of the cities are rough as. Not much going on. the highlands are admittedly pretty beautiful but there is hardly anything happening there. Personally I'm not a fan.
 
yea i can imagine that someone from europe would think that. I would still love to go there though to explore the history and beauty of it all just because i've never seen anything like it.
 
Haha you just asked me that. I loved it. There were ups and downs for sure, but simply incredible. I was 18 at the start of the program and turned 19 about 3/4 through. Being 18 in Europe is great, you can pretty much do everything. However, they put me in a lower grade, so most of my friends were younger.

LOL at people recommending places they have never been to. You should go to Somalia bro, it has a really nice beach, and tons of interesting history. Plus you will get to take a lot of cool classes Lon subjects like the Quran, and Sharia law, great to study a different culture. Sweet bro. You all need to stick to recommending places you have gone.
 
Honestly it could go either way. If you don't mind drinking just beer and wine, and leaving. clubs at midnight, then go for it. Those are the only real disadvantages. Also, take in to consideration high school. If you leave during high school, you have to come back to all the bullshit, where no ones changed, and you have had a life changing experience. When doing a gap year it allows you to just keep flowing your life. Again, it's up to you though. No matter when you'll enjoy it
 
Do it! If you can make it happen, go for it. I would have been down to do that, but I didn't get into it early enough.
