Best cars for perormance tuning?

i only grouped honda's in the "ricer" category, im all about evo's and wrx's and sti's, such sick cars.

Depends, it is more comfortable to have your tail pop out then to push trough corners but sometimes rwd get stuck easier and are a bitch. A good set of tires and common sense make a bigger difference then the drive.
 
You can control oversteer and possibly save it. If you start to push in a corner you're toast. yeah pretty much tires makes the biggest difference in getting stuck.

Anyway, I am not going to get a FWD 4-banger.

After reviewing this thread, I am wondering why I even listed those choices in the first place.

I will most likely be getting a 300zx (yeah, they are heavy, but weight reduction is easy. I test drove one, and they are incredible), or an older BMW (depending on what I can find). It wont be for another few months though.

I really want my Dad's 340HP '95 M-Series BMW, but I doubt I would be able to get my hands on that any time soon, since it is kind of a rare car.

I know plenty about cars, despite what you may think about this thread. I was simply asking for your opinions about cars.

I would never do body work to a car (like a body kit, or a huge, unnessacary wing)

Everything I like about cars is underneath the hood.
 
i know what you mean, i would go for under the hood first and do everything i could. but i would put a body kit, maybe neons on, and limo tint.
 
vw's have their fair share of krauters. its not like a honda is the only car that can be a ricer. it doesn't matter what it is. a poorly modified car is a poorly modified car, the emblem was already there.
 
There aren't many ways to take weight off a 300ZX short of carbon body panels and lighter seats. That car is geared more toward the highway and drag strip, in my opinion.
 
yeup, cars are tanks, and its nothing you can "reduce" unless your building a racecar in wich case it would be an even dumber car to buy, zx's are only good if you want one NOT TO MOD.
 
the whole car is cramped, I could go on for hours why not to buy that car.. Sequential twin turbos are useless for one thing, get and s13 240sx and throw in an sr20 or something if you want a nissan.
 
get the older, BMW IMO. with a 6k limit you probably will have to get a N/A 300z which while it aint bad, the BMW can be faster. Look at this place in Cinci, http://carlocatorsinc.com/ , they can basically find you any BMW you want, and it will be in good condition.

I like Euro's though so this might just be me.
 
Dude, come on, Don't count out fwd 4-bangers yet. For the kind of performance 99% of people in this world need, it will be fine.

300zx just plain aren't that good of cars. I think they are totally cool, but they just aren't worth it, and their performance honestly is nothing to write home about. First off, the N/A 300zx is just pointless and stupid. Second, any turbo 300zx is gonna probably have high miles and if it hasn't already will need the turbos replaced= $$$. Plus, they are heavy as shit. Hell if you are gonna get a rwd Nissan get a 240sx. Cheap, tons of parts and upgrades for them (can you say sr20det?) And most importantly, they have almost perfect 50/50 weight distribution.

Older Bimmer= crap shit performance. I've driven older bimmers, they fucking suck stock. BMW is probably my favorite manufacture of car, but the older ones pre like '95 I feel have shitty build quality and their perfomance blows balls. Honestly. Unless you drop mad dough into it. And if something happens, which you always have to account for, you are fucked. Do you have any idea on how much it costs to rebuild a Bimmer motor, let alone an M series motor. It is mad expensive, whereas you blow a motor in a Toyota or Honda and anybody can fix it, and for pretty cheap.

I just don't see your justification, but hey, cars are personal choices so do what you want. Just don't be pissed when you have problems with your 300zx or Bimmer and you can't afford to fix it.

95 M-series BMW with 340Hp? does he have an M5? cuz the older M3's only had like 225, and the E46 M3's have 333hp. So he must have an M5 or an M6 (The older ones r soo rare) Post a pic of it if u can

damn, let us know how that is, My friend has an e46 M3 as his daily driver, he just turned 20, and own his own exotic car renting bussiness, and bought a Lamborgini Gallardo, and a Ferrari, not sure what ferrari it is, haven;t seen it yet, but the lambo is beautiful. I think hes gunna buy a porche carrera 4s soon
 
ugh you are aware that it's Bimmer, Beamers are bikes bimmers are cars. get it right. LOL.

British cars kick ass, exapmle; Lotus Exige, cough cough Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Rover, Land Rover, and to top it off TVR (as long it's not on fire)

The Old M5's are soo badass, my neigbor has on old 80's M5 which will kill most modern cars probably even the almighty STi.

Also I'm an Audi guy, I own one and want to own more but I've grown up around BMW's and porsches so all German cars are in my good graces. Just my thoughts though.
 
exactly, I grew up around Audi BMW and Porsche as well so they have a soft spot in my heart, plus the quality and feel is just unparalleled.

Good call on The lotus dude, I totally generalized British cars without even thinking about Lotus. I got to to drive a esprit twin turbo on a track and it was probably one of the nicest cars I have ever driven. And so gorgeous.

alright you got me...I actually do think Aston Martins are probably in the top 5 for most gorgeous looking cars ever, and their motors are sick. I guess what I meant was Land Rovers suck balls, except the Defender which is actually quite cool. Some of the new stuff the Brits have come out with are great, older MGs and stuff though are just horrible.
 
land rover do suck. defenders are just awesome though. i wanna get one so bad. i wanna carry my guns in it...like the queen.

are you fucking serious??? were you dropped on your head as a baby? please tell me how so.. why the hell you think an sti costs so much? because of asthetic value? nooo fuckin way, you pay up because of all the engineering and work put into making a performance car, you can't just make up the difference by thinking your loud muffler will make you fast

and i have to say...holy fuck...i'm never gonna drive an american or japanese made cars/trucks again. it was very comparable to sex.
 
cool vid, but that just completely reinforced how Civics are better TUNER cars!

I could build that civic or one like it with around 4-500 HP for probably $15,000-$20,000 or less! How much did that STI cost to buy and build. probably 40-50,000? There you go, you do the math.

Plus, that Civic had shitty tires, and that person couldn't launch that car for shit. That STI was incredibly badass but you keep launching that car like that and your gonna be leaving a trail of tranny pieces behind you.
 
HAHA Hondas smoke autocross courses! AWD cars push through corners and drive very similar to FWD! So, it comes down to weight, and Hondas own Subarus in the weight department. I'm sticking to my guns.
