I am looking for a new car. I want either a sedan or coupe. Something sporty, newer, and good looking with good gas mileage and exceptional reliability. Less money spent on gas and repairs = more skiing money. Thanks and +k for good recs.

diesel is even more expensive than regular gas...and much more impractical not alot of places carry deisel, atleast where i live. Diesel is also 5 dollars a gallon

you can ebay so many sick cars for cheap cheap. just gotta hunt around and wait for deals. my dad bought a 94 acura in great shape like 4-5 years ago for $1,200 and it's still kicking and has never had major problems. just gotta shop around the southern states where cars dont get owned by the fury of the four seasons.

Yeah pretty much. I used to drive an 08 civic and beat the shit out of it and never had any problems. Great on gas. It wont do you any good in the snow though. probably the worst bad weather car ever.

yeah.. but OP is from west virginia soooo
for real though, i drive an 04 honda accord. gets 28-30 to the gallon, never breaks down. And when it does, maintenance is really cheap.

i will second this... have a 2000 accord have put over 200,000kms on it and have never once had to bring it in for mechanical problems

I've always been told that VW, especially Jettas, have tons and tons of problems. Since they've been brought up several times in this thread and I know nothing about cars - is that not true? Just curious, I honestly don't know.

2 jetta tdi's in my family, an 05 with 16x xxx km and an 06 with 12x xxx km and nothing besides general upkeep and a failed abs sensor in the 05. also, +1 for tdi.

Ah true, well then go civic/accord. I'd go accord so you could get some more room. You could get a couple year old coupe accord. My friend has one and its actually mad nice. My civic was soo small. Had to put the back row of seats down to fit in skis which meant you could only fit one other person.

B6 Audi A4. 1.8t

got mine for 12.5k, 50k miles, with tints and a hardwired radar. gas mileage is sick if you dont drive like an asshole

I have a 2003 3.0 v6. I got it with 74k miles for $8500.

People say Audis are unreliable but just buy one with all the maintenance records and keep up with oil changes and you will have very few problems. Quattro is amazing in the snow, my car out drives all my friends 4 wheel suvs and trucks. Its decently quick stock, looks great, nice interior, and it sounds great imo. I've had mine for a year and I love it.

you can find an awesome e36 m3 for 15k. that will probably be the best all around car in terms of performance, reliability and practicality. if your looking for a sports car...
really tho depends on what you want, because there are so many awesome cars for under that price, you really have to describe what your looking for.

They don't get out of your way, everyone one just slows the fuck down. So its funny for the first 15 min but then starts pissing you off when it takes you twice as long to get anywhere
