wherever there are the most guys so the girls can push themselves and actually ski to their full potential. girls kill it at a very high level in all other sports, but in skiing how can a chick win a slopestyle comp with straight sliding a rail, not even 270 out?
Its always good to see another girl really getting into skiing. Things havent been looking so great, even my 52 year old mom destroys most of the girls at my mountain, its kind of sad 8/~
I just think that girls are or can be wayyyyy better than they present themselves at competitions. Yeah its cool to see girls way into it but I know that girls can push themselves a whole lot harder in skiing than they have, one girl that really stands out to me is Ingrid, she skis just like a dude and hits some GNARLY lines. I think that girls in slopestyle can do the same. They can 4 disaster on film but can't do it in a comp? wtf? all they have to do is practice it all day and make it 2nd nature and not just a rare occurance. i can't wait till girls really start working it in slope and pipe I know they can do it.
But seriously, Momentum seems good from what I've seen. There was a pretty big group of girls when I was there and they seemed to be having tons of fun.
Ive never been to camp but I think any camp would be good for girls. The more important thing other than the camp is how much you want to progress and if you have the balls (vagina for you i guess?) to try new things.
ther is camp SILF especially for girls its owened by coc but its on the peak mammoth, but go early cause the later you go the harder it is to get on, and the quicker it melts. some of the rails are really hard there, and they do get sticky pretty quick. but all around its a good camp.
Playing tennis with and against the guys? No problem.
Playing golf with and against the guys? No problem.
Criticize me in these sports and I'll ace your ass like there is no tomorrow.
Learning to ski park in front of the guys? Hardest thing I've ever tried.
Some of you guys need to be more open and don't criticize (even jokingly) - it hurts...a lot. Also, don't stand and watch. I'm really, really self conscious.
I know. It's weird, and I'm weird for thinking this way. I think just being on NS has ruined my mindset about skiing.
just have fun you beezy progression will come as you have fun and get bored of the same old tricks so you wanna learn new ones and fall accordingly but you will get up and stomp that shit and then get bored of those tricks and what do you know you learn more new tricks! make sure youre around guys that are out there that you like to be around just having fun and doing their thing.
Ugh, I don't know why but I just have a problem around my guy friends who happen to be quite good at what they do. Sometimes I either like to be by myself learning or with my fellow chica learning stuff together. I'm stubborn.
COC hands down! I've been at COC the past 3 years and there's hardly any skier chicks there. Less girls will mean more one-on-one coaching from Jess Cumming who throws down pretty hard. Momentum always has a lot of girls from what i hear. COC has the best park too.
Aspendukes, you should try using the criticism to pump you up and show them that you can learn the same tricks the guys can do then you will have all the respect in the world.
Just to let you know guys make fun of each other to get them to do tricks all the time and probably way worse then how they act towards you. One of my coaches is such a dick to me but it gets me to land tricks. If you can't find a way to turn their words into motivation then hey, maybe skiing isn't for you.
Yeah definitely. I didn't see too many skier girls at Windells this summer but there was definitely a presence. There was a couple girls that were absolutely killing it. The girls throwing down were getting everyone within sight more stoked. I was totally impressed. The chick that got chosen for the MTV series was damn good.
MTV was at Windells for *I think* 4 sessions. They followed around 4 campers, skiers and snowboarders, guys and girls. They are doing a reality series called Camp'd Out or something like that. I'd guess it should be on the air sometime in the near future. Basically they just follow the kids all around camp and document their whole experience.
but no really, i went to windells past summer and there were a bunch of shredder girls there throwing down and everyone i talked to about it seemed to love it.
I think going to any ski camp ever during the summer will be the best time of your life.
yeah. lauren was throwing butter 5s at the end of the camp and 7s with a boot grab by the end of my session (session 4) at least. There was this other chick that was doing pretzels...it was ridiculous.
Yea theres canadians, and i went three years ago and there was surpisringly alot of girls. and they had all the girls ski together with the girls coaches.. they said it was a rly sick time.
i totally agree.... not only do i ski with all guys .. but all snowboarders (and my bf's friends) ... so not only is it hard to ski in the park... but i have to have my bf and all his friends (who have never skied) watch ... and judge (at least thats what i feel like) ...
i am pretty sure that every girl park rider (ski or snowboard) feels the same way... ...
i am a graphic designer and i just did a logo for a girl that says "one chick ski club" (which is pretty sweet... totally going to rock that sticker)... we talked about that for a while... and she said she skis with all boys as well... and it drives her crazy
but anyways.... the best motivation i found in the park... or even in pow .. are people that actually push you... and dont judge... my boyfriend is a really good snowboarder (sponsered.. bla bla)... he doesnt push me as much as some of my close friends that are better then me... "ill do a 3 if you do one"... makes me want to do it...
ya thats pretty accurate, they followed around a couple kids, it souldent be that bad, the girl skier was ok like 540's when i was there, but they got a huge ns sticker on her helmet so that sould be cool to see on mtv
The thing is (no offence) you're taking it way to personally. I guess that's just the way girls are though. Guys criticize eachother all the time. To a guy "Fuck you", if said jokingly, doesn't hurt.
Duh, I'm a chick. That's the difference between chicks and dudes. We have different mindsets, and we have yet to understand each other. I'm just saying that when I am learning I don't want criticism thrown my way, but when I'm just fucking around then I'll play right along with the criticism.
worrrd. i get SO nervous whenever there are people (usually guys) around and i'm trying something new. it totally freaks me out. i have more comment on this but i have to run to class. BAH! mythreads
