Best Camera For Filming in the park

^ Not sure about that but i used the sony PC9 all season and it has such good quality and the anti shake function is priceless for follow on shots. I also found that is performed well when it got fucking cold. Its expensive but so worth it. I would also ivest in a wide angle (not fish eye) lens. They transform what your filming.

Mostly, if not all 16mm film cameras.

Go to Japan... you could get a US$ 3000 camera for like $800... and if you just jack a dingy from some beach its really not that far of a row.

get a canon gl1 - if you get a sony pretty soon your lens, camera, and battery will stop working if it gets cold out at all.

i use a canon optura 300MC, it is dope. good quality for digital fer sure. i'd rather have a GL, but i can't afford it. i think i may get a super8 camera though, they are cheap and kickass quality

You want to get a mini-DV camera. The quality is much better, and it deteriorates less over time because of the digital error correction. Hi-8 and similar formats look like ass after a couple of years, and you can't do anything about it.

Some of the little Sony handycams are not bad.. small and they take decent video. If you're looking for a bigger, nicer one, though... I think Canon does some good ones, but they're probably above your price range.

save up another $1,500 and get a canon XL1S. then when you take it out of the box, charge the battery and turn it on and go to movie mode and turn on the frame effect and it looks exactly like 16mm. its the coolest thing i have ever seen.

if im right, i beleive that minidv has less quality than digital 8. and their both digital. the only difference is the film size.

I have the cannon ZR65 MC. I got it off the net for 450 american. Its decent, Im not a profesional so it does the job. I also got a wide angle lens for it that I use for everything. Make sure that you pick up a wide angle lens because it makes a HUGE difference.

Don't forget that you'll need to learn how to use the camera and need accessories for it for good stuff.

Get a decent quality MiniDV cam, maybe spend like $600 on it. Then get a good quality 0.5x wide angle converter and some extra high capacity batteries.

Then pick up a small pelican case to store it in and buy like 6 professional quality MiniDV tapes, a firewire card, a new hard drive for storing the footy and software and more RAM for editing it.

After all that stuff you should be up to $1,000. It's better than buying a $1,000 cam and realising that you have no money left over for anything else.

if im not mistaken, minidv is about twice the resolution of 8/digi8. 'film' size doesnt matter on a video camera because its recording to magnetic tape, not leaving an emulsion on film like a super8/16/35mm camera. and super8 FILM has twice the resolution as miniDV, then 16mm has 4 times the resolution as that and so on. so 35mm film that they use in hollywood movies has 32 times the resolution of a minidv cam
