Best boot flex for buttering?

should i keep k2 revolvers at the stock 90 flex or make them stiffer to help with butters? it feels like my boot needs to be stiffer in the lower leg/calf area any advice would be appreciated??

I started skiing in k2 methods (100 flex) and after one season i started crunching/folding/mushing the tongue of the boot. Especially on more gnarly terrain or moguls. Got sick of my boots not being able to support my level of skiing. So I got the 120 flex tongue 2 days ago and used it for the first time yesterday and it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. everything feels more solid, responsive, and less painful. And to answer yorur question yes, it is better for leveraging your weight to either side for butters

shims and volume filler pads. But go to a boot fitter.

I got the same heel movement shit and I just try and deal with it. I have not tried products that “fix” the issue like patriot footbeds but they may work. I do know some bootfitters will add in foam between the boot liner and the plastic boot shell to take up volume and have your heel more snug. However i have added a custom insole called Footprint insoles and they are fantastic. They absorb big impacts better, help on flat landings alot, help arch support, and they seem to have helped heel lift some amount too just because they take up some volume inside the liner.

bro go to a boot fitter. any actual heel movement is not something you should just be dealing with, it’s a legit issue with the fit of your boot. you will ski better with a locked down heel

Get the absolute fucking stiffest four buckle boot you can find, im talking hardened steel, and throw a booster strap on it. Tighten that bitch to the max. Your tib fibs dont matter if your skis are soft enough, they will compensate for the lack of flex in your ski boot in an ultra-core steezmaxed fashion.

Yea I just have a stupidly narrow ankle ive been told. Kind of just accepted it with snowboard and skiing boots. I know i can get fully custom fitted boots like surefoot and stuff but dont currently have budget for that

Why do you ski in methods of you have a narrow ankle? There are like million boots with less volume in the ankle area.

Mainly because the last is wide and I have a bunion and don't want to squish my toes at all anymore. Also because the price point was nice so I was willing to make a temporary compromise. They're also nice and comfy and allow me to ski well overall. I am planning on getting some volume reduction in the heel area to make it nicer for now. Definitely not my perfect endgame boot though, I do want to try a lot of other boots/get fully customized boots.
