Best big mountain skier

My Buddy George Rodney was a junior olympics racer until this year when he switched to big mountain and won 2 of his first 3 big mountain junior fis competitions. Plus hes probably the funniest fucker I know, I shall have an edit of him up soon.
 
No you're not. They are two very different things.

As for true big mountain, that is strictly lines and technical skiiing ability, my top choice is of course Seth. Sage, Ian McIntosh, Hugo and Abma are also all right at the top.

When it comes to tricking within technical lines, I'd say Sage, Abma, Candide, Tanner, Durtschi and Petit.
 
I'd say the Bec des Rosses (in the pic) was quite gnar enough, winning the FWT is also a fairly good indication that he is a fucking madman.

That said, I like watching Eric Hjorleifson, dude is a nutter.

FIS has nothing to do with freeski comps... But i saw George ski at the Red comp, he fucking slays.

 
sage and candide...other people can ski what they can, but not with the style and trickery. petit brothers are the future tho.

Seth and Hoji. they are my favorite to watch, although we can always argue there are others that ski gnarlier lines, maybe not

haha..my point wasn't that candide is better than sage or seth..my point was that i have seen candide rip the lines which you posited that nobody has seen
 
Sage went from bumming it tuff, washing dishes for a pass at alta, to one day out of the blue given the make it or break it opportunity to hit chads with a film crew, and proceeding to shit all over that gap. he then went on to rip the BC and AK a new one all on camera.

Seth and Candide, had the pedigree, and people knew who they were when they were coming up. thats all i meant.

And seth doesnt ski nearly as hard as he did 5 years ago.10 to 5 years ago, no one could touch the guy in the big mtn realm. he is still top 5 film style big mtn slayers, but he isnt #1 anymore.

and im sure candide could hold his own in AK, but i dont think he could flawlessly integrate tricks into mach chicken spine wall runs, the way that sage can. Im the kind of person that has to see it to believe it. hopefully his new 2 year project will shut me up, and prove he is the GOAT, but until then...Pics/vid or it never happened.

oh, and those FWT are super gnarly because of the exposure, not neccesarily because of steepness.
 
neither of your nominees would be in the top 10 best big mtn skiers in a TGR flick, top 5 in an MSP flick, and top 2 in a PBP flick. Hell, 80% of the Dendrite crew kill it easily as hard in the big mtns.

Lemme guess, you think the AK segment from eye trip was the gnarliest big mtn of the year?

I would add Dean Cummings. Here is Dean, skiing a spine on Meterorite. It is one of the sickest descents I have ever seen. The exposure is insane.

I do believe Candide has ripped some insane, unseen lines. His skiing on the Bec De Ross was incredible.

If you are insinuating that Candide has skied 'Hotel Room,' which is the name of the insane line Sage and Seth ski in that clip, well he has not. If you are insinuating he has skied another AK spine wall like that, that no one saw, well I don't buy that either. Candide does not live in Ak. He does not have his own heli ski operation. Guys like Candide don't go to AK and have their sickest lines up there NOT get filmed. It takes far too much for a sponsor to get a guy up there.

I love Candide. I'm just saying that I don't see him hitting serious AK spine walls that we don't know about. Serious lines in Europe? I'll buy that.

Seriously, hucking a backflip or three off a cliff doesnt make you a big mountain skier. Top of the field, overall, IMO:

Sage, Hoji, Hugo, Kai, Seth, Pep, Abma.

The guys that win FWT stops are fucking nuts, but these guys are the best being professionally filmed right now.
 
I wasn't saying he was the best. And you might laugh again but his last line in revolver is pretty damn good and some of his AK lines in edias (at least one that I can remember) are ridiculous too. But yea. Seth or sage are my votes
