Best big mountain ski?

what's the best big mountain ski out there?

im partial to the Salomon AK Rocket or the Rossi Bandit XXX

A bad day on skis is better than a good day on a snowboard!

From reading posts at the Powder boards, the construction method used with Badits doesn't hold up well. But not everyone has experienced that.

 
is it possible to demo big mountain boards in their element?

For just big mountain? Rossi Bandit XXX has proven itself for like the last 3-4 years. The new atomic sugar daddys and big daddys are supposed to be good as well.

I'm also interested to see how Volant Spatulas work.

 
Atomic made a sweet big mountain ski a couple years ago, the BetaRide, but now they have the Sugar Daddy and a few other big mountain/freeride skis. salomon's new AK Rocket Pilot is pretty sweet, it's a 195 cm ski with the pilot system bindings (s914, i think) and to add to how the ski rides, there is a small layer of titanium between the topsheet and the core, to add stiffness to the ski. from what i've heard, you can open these skis up like nothing else. another good big mountain ski that i've heard of is the bandit xxx, last year's model and this year's model are pretty good, rossi redid the bandit series last year, anything before that is not worth your time.

 
no question, it IGNEOUS. for a true big mountain ski, nothing is better. these sticks are so friken burly. i have only a 185 fgs with 250 stiffness and they can go so fast, so if you took a ski like a 200 FFL with 260+ stiffness you have a sick big mountain ski.

 
just because igneous is dead doesn't change the fact that they are the best big mountain skis. last year you could still get a pair of igneous made, but you had to pay cash upfront and pick them up at their 'factory'. i donno if they are still doing that for some people.

dynastar bigs, from the last couple years, the 4x4's with the swallow tail, are supe rsturdy and hold an adge on anything, they have awsome flex for in the pow as well..the newer ones with the twin tip were a little soft in the tail..

he's right. the ski's too soft to handle lines like Pierre-Yves Leblanc, Hugo Harisson and Kent Kreitler do. if you're gonna look to salomon for a big mountain ski go for the AK Rocket. they twined it out this year
