I just dont really know any beers in the US except for those shitty light beers you usually find in all the stores. Just came to me out of interest (the glass of nice and cold weissbier in my hand probably did the rest)

American Microbrew culture has completely changed the game as far as American beers go.

Breweries like Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada now stock shelves coast to coast and abroad... and put any of the piss water to shame... of which every country has at least a few beers that are piss water...

USA: Bud/Coors/Miller/PBR

Canada: Labatt/Molsen/Kokanee/Oldstyle

UK: Carling

Mexico: Everything other than Negra Modelo

Australia: VB/Fosters

Germany: Oettinger/Becks

Nederlands: Amstel/Heineken

I can go on and on. everyone has their bad eggs.

Oettinger is the FUCKING worst.

Noone in their right mind drinks it here. Its essentially known as "bum beer".

Such a shame :D Even becks is so much better lol.

Oettinger makes quite the nice softdrinks though. They taste way better than any of the coca cola and pepsi stuff.

Good taste for sure..never heard of that pliny younger?

You're joking with the lambic right??

sammy smith nut brown mmmmmmm

Gonna throw a few more of my favorites

Or these guys

Well I can say that I dont know anyone drinking it without lying. Might be different in other regions though.

I mean, its the cheapest, so I can understand people without a lot of money drinking it, but its just really not worth it...

Its like playing the lottery. Every bottle tastes different, but at least 90% of them taste like shit. You might get lucky and get a good one once in a while but still... Mostly tastes like dishwater...

Those aren't bad. Not a fan of everything that Stone makes though.

Pliny the Younger is right up there with Heady Topper for the best beer on the planet year in and year out... if anything, at least best IPA. PTY is far more exclusive, though, and they change it slightly every february when they put it out. It's an incredible brew. Pliny the Elder is the one you can get year round that's also in the top 10 IPA's.

and Lambics are the fucking TITS. Especially in the summer or around the ladies.

Hmm interesting about the Pliny, I'm not the biggest IPA guy so I probably wouldn't appreciate it..I'll keep and eye out and try it sometime though

hahah ladies do love the lambics, its just like an alcohol fruit orgasm in their mouths

Dingo - you must like the stone imperial russian stout right? Wasnt sure what you didnt like from stone..I pretty much stick to the russian and arrogant bastard

What is that supplication? I'm a fan of oak aged as well but I don't branch out and try many new ones

Here's some from the local brewery in town.

and all of these are overpriced and overrated, but still solid.

rogue-bottles.jpg

^ Dead guy is not overrated..that is a great beer

Never had their bacon beer - I wanted some so bad but I heard its pretty garbage

Yeah, Stone makes good stuff, and their Ruination IPA and Double Bastard are incredible...

A lot of their basic stuff though, is kinda 'meh' it's good, but it's overrated and usually overpriced just like Rogue is.

on the otherhand, probably the most underrated brewery...

lagunitas_circle_dog2.jpg

For 6 bucks, it's overrated as shit. Don't get me wrong, Rogue makes awesome beer, but they are all SOOO overpriced.

and... their bacon beer is pretty bad. The actual doughnuts are alright, but even Voodoo doesn't make the best doughnuts in PDX. Rogue is hyped just the same - not even close to the best Oregon brewery.

One of my favorite local brews

BBC+02.jpg

Ommegang is also another great brewery..love the quad and their rare vos

ommegang_3_phil2.jpg

Also I don't give a fuck, I will drink this every summer day until I die on live poisoning - this beer can only be consumer from June-Sept

summershandy-bottle-pour.jpg

Yeah, there is nothing better than stuff like that on a hot summer day. Doesnt even have to be with weissbeer really, works just fine with any pils (hope that what its called in english too) too. But I prefer to mix my own, most of the ones you can buy in bottles are too sweet for me.

You can also try some weissbeer with coke = "diesel" in germany. Its pretty good too (if you need to drive or sth)

^^ we're not worthy!! but seriously stone takes the cake.

damn I've had a good amount of long trail but never tried that...I'm interested

also diggin the sam adams beer glass...I stole about a dozen of those from the bar I use to work at haha

Not my photo, but I may or may not have in my possession a Sam Adams pitcher from the brewery, that may or may not have ended up in my wife's purse.

As for the beer, it is a solid offering. Not entirely the BEST DIPA I've had, but I really enjoy it and being in Central VT, it is very accessible for me. It is currently only available in bombers or on-tap.

In my opinion it is the best brew they offer. Also, their Maple Maibock that they are serving as a part of their Brown Bag Series is excellent as well.

Lets shift gears here...

What's everyone's favourite "guilty pleasure" beer? That is... beer that is thought of as "sub-par" or even "fucking dreadful" but that you unashamedly enjoy? This is the part of the thread where everyone says "PBR"

I won't even lie... I actually really like everything and anything that Genesee makes.. haha The cream ale of course, but even Genny light isn't bad...

Also, Trader Jose, which I am convinced is probably just tecate or something... really not as bad as you'd expect... Along with it "Simple Times" which they also sell at Trader Joes for like 3.50 for a 6er... decent enough to enjoy without hate.

Also, I feel like a bitch, but I've started to like certain belgian whites as well as hefeweizens recently.. the fuck is wrong with me.

Genny cream is an awesome cheap beer..there use to be a dive around me that would sell $1 genny drafts which would cause a fucking horrendous hangover the next day

for me it's the leinenkugel summer shandy I posted above- lemonade and beer is a super vagina combination but I don't care best damn beer during the summer

Also rolling rock is another guilty pleasure cause it's so damn cheap and refreshing...its gotta be about 98% water

I know the owners of Woodchuck, they ski Magic and are really awesome people. I'm not usually a cider drinker, but their crisp is fucking delish I must say

In other news, my favs have got to be a good old heady topper and the black IPAs from otter creek. Just so good and they've got everything I want in a beer.

Yep. I'll go to the local market, pick up 4 24oz cans of the stuff. Effectively an 8 pack. Costs 4 bucks. And the beer isn't bad.

And you get sloshed.

Also, I really have developed an affinity for a nice cold OG. They have them on the mountain for $1.50 in the bar. Shit is fucking DANGEROUS.

$(KGrHqMOKj0E5vO8LzQlBOcoc4rUdg~~_35.JPG

We actually have jokingly renamed them "on-ground" because they fucking stock the bar with them, and they're so cheap for a 16ozer, that you can end up throwing down a hamilton or god forbid, a jackson and end up on the fucking deck. Easy.
