Best backcountry in Maine?

Been living in Maine a little over a year now and haven't done much backcountry here yet. Any recommendations?

I don't know if its what your looking for, but Sugarloaf has some nice off trail skiing.

Who are you? Our forests are pretty thick, but you can do some in the Camden area when it snows, Katahdin is good if you really know what youre doing,

tucks, rumford white cap, the backside of sunday river to the airport and you can hitch a ride back.

katadhin has the gnarliest terrain in the east, but you need to know your shit to get there and it is a multi day trip. i do not know my shit nor am i a good enough bc skier to even think of going in there, but id love to at some point.
