Best amp for best price?

ok so i want to make a bumpin' home system i already have speakers that are ok, but my current amp is from 1970 and is on its last leg. i need to find a sick amp, preferably at least 1500 watts and have a sub hook up to it. any ideas.

what you're looking for is generally called a receiver, not an amp.

and why 1500? is that just an arbitrary number you picked?

if you really do want 1500, do you want 1500 peak or 1500 continuous?

this is the dumbest fucking thread i have ever seen
1500 watts for home theater- yeah fucking right- a ten thousand dollar home theater setup would still only net you around maybe 600 watts rms

I run all PSB, powered by 50 watts per channel so thats 250 watts for speakers, combined with the sub pushing its own amplifier for another 150 watts- you cant even listen to it anywhere near full volume for longer than a few seconds because your ears will hurt like hell

home audio =/= car audio

If youre looking for something you can bump tunes at for your parties get like a PA system or just a home theater bose surround sound system and get a home theater sub woofer with it for da bass. But yeah a PA or actual home theater system for sure... not an amp.

get an audio research amp

but here's some dank guitar amps just cuz

1500 watts? Yeah that sounds very excessive. When I jam with a drummer with my 120 watt amp I keep the volume at around 3 and I am already pretty loud. I will say though, get into amp modellers. Line 6 pod hd pro is what I would like to get. Pretty much any tone you want, you can get. Like a cheap version of Fractal audio's Axe-FX.

Modern Marshalls are shit; this one especially.

I'll take a Reeves Custom 50 or Marshall JTM45 over that thing any day.

I love the silver jub sound, much better voicing than the jcm800. listen to joe bonamassa when he used em, great rich blues crunch. to each his own

i've had some good experiences with line6 amps. the cheaper ones are still pretty damn good. look into them.

ok so now i know the difference between an amp and a reciever i just want to have something to get me started to make a sick home set up. as for watts, i pulled that number out of my ass, i know my friend has a 1000 watt in his condo and it is sick, but i want block party status system.
