For those of you who know a lot about shooting high-quality video this is a question for you, what do you think the best dv/mini-dv 3-CCD camcorder? I am thinking about getting a new camera at the end of the summer and it is time to start thinking about how much money I need to make this summer. From what I have seen I like the Sony VX2000 and Canon GL-1. There is this a new 3-CCD camcorder sony is making the trv-950 that looks basically like a mini VX2000 which is about $500 less.

vx2000 for sure, i have the trv900 which is also sick, but the new trv950 sucks, it might have new stuff that the trv900 didnt, like mpeg and memeory stick, but it dosnt have as good chips or whatever you call them, meaning the 900 has a lux of 4 and shoots awesome video while the 950 has a lux of 7 and prob dosnt shoot as well

Yeah I hear that. From the looks of things I think I am going to get a GL1 at the end of the summer

The XL1 is kinda big that is why I think the GL1 is more for me. The VX2000 is sooo nice too though. Such a hard decision. I have a sony trv11 now which is a really good camera for starting off but the quality isn't that great. I have had good luck with sony. Does anyone own a GL1?

Gl1. You can get them for pretty cheap now, cheaper than the vx2000.

sony man, this guy i trust told me about this, the cannon one uses different tehcnology man, ggo for vx2000, its the best one

canon / sonny about the same if u are looking at the highend stuff, but if you get accesor lenses buy the ones made by Century optics

gl1 and vx2000 are about the same. The GL1 can shoot full frames (no interlace) while the sony cna't, but the audio is much better on the sony. But if you are really serious about shorts and what not you'll porbably be getting boom mics and off camera audio anyways, hense my vote going to the gl1.
