Bern Hardhat question

Im looking to get a new helmet and was wondering if you guys bout the summer version of the helmet or the winter version and just took out the earpads and such. And yes i will be wearing a hat underneath. Answers will be greatly apreciated and +karma

I actually had never thought of that, that could be a good idea. I know some helmet companies say to NEVER wear a hat under it because of potential danger, but don't know if it is actually dangerous. I think a summer helmet would work as long as you could comfprtably fit a hat in it. Go to a ski helmet site nad ask somebody there or chat with Backcountry.com if you still want more info. Hope this kinda helps.

just get the summer version, its alot cheaper and they have more colorsno reason to get the winter, the earpads only go the the inside brim of the helmet

Yeah I have the winter one and just take the earpads out, So you could go either way. I like it better with the beanie under it because it actually keeps my ears warmer, the earflaps let in a lot of wind.

just buy the summer version its the same as the winter version without the earpads

i bought a summer and a winter version... i never use the winter liner. just a beanie underneath. and a summer helmet is like half the cost i believe of the winter helmet. and last year i thought the summer lineup was better anyways. so i would definitely recommend going with the summer and a beanie.

So both the summer and winter helmets are the same except for the earflaps?

Yeah. And you don't need earflaps if you are just going to be using a beanie
