Bent-chetlers?

BEARS.

originally i thought they were a 09-10 ski, but i was just reading freeskier and i saw an ad saying they were going to be released this year in a limited amount... can someone shed some light on this?

all Bent chetler info seems to still be under wraps. there are a couple of threads on this already with more info. There are dimensions but no idea of flex, amount of rocker, sidecut etc. Hopefully the man himself will reveal more in the next month or 2.

I would expect them to be somewhat like hellbents, since that seems to have been what he was riding most of the time before joining Atomic.........?

ya, i was talking to him a few months ago via myspace and he said they will be pretty similar to hellbents.

but only 183cm? why so short?

200 actually, and 183 is a bit short for a powder all mountain ski. i like big skis, my park skis are 181 and feel too short, i ride a 194 for powder/all mountain ski because i like to ski hard. i know lots of people who are smaller than me who like big skis.

how much do you weigh? because there is no way that 183 is big, especially for a powder ski

with a rockered ski and that width, you really dont need a long ski. i skiied my friends 179 hellbents for a couple runs on a pow day after riding my first year jp vs juliens all day and the bents float a shit ton easier, despite being almost 10 cm shorter.

You need the length because the ski's running length is so much shorter on a rockered ski. Think about it, 179 hellbents may have a running length of around 100 and any extra length would help add to the running length. That is why you really do need a long ski.

why would that matter for powder? since pretty much all the ski is contacting snow when your in powder. and even on groomers, bents did really well that 100 cm.

Well, if you plan on doing any difficult charging you will want the extra length. As well, the Bent's may have done well on groomers, but they would do better in the 189 than the 179.

^thats true, but you got to remember that this is the ski that chris designed for his personal liking, not someone elses

The 179 hellbent is really like a 184, its the way K2 measures skis, the JJ is 188, so there is really only about 4mm diff, not 10mm
