Bent Chetler or Black Ops

I quite enjoy my Black Ops. They are heavy and stiff but not unwieldy. They require a little more work on your part to initiate butters and what not but I love them. Was on them all last season. Looks like I’ll get a few more out of them.

I’ve only demoed the Bent Chetlers briefly, but they were playful and the fresh snow on the ground gave me a sense of the HRZN tech tips. A little soft for my liking but they don’t wash out if you backseat a little.

I went with the Black Ops due to pricing and the feel.

Cheers.

i think it depends on how youre gonna be skiing, but the chetlers are some of the most fun skis ive ever ridden on, so my vote goes to them.

Moment Bibby. The original and best version of what Atomic and Rossi have tried to recreate.

It totally depends on what you want. The bentchetler is great in fresh, I was on them for some of the all time days we had this season in Mammoth and they were the perfect tool for the job. However, once the snow became tracked and the upper alpine variable snow opened up, I didn't want to be on Bentchetlers anymore. I've always been on playful, surfy pow skis; JJ's for years and Bentchetlers as well but I've kind of changed course after taking stock of what I'm skiing most of the time. As a resort skier, I ski a lot of chop and variable snow and I want a pow ski that isn't just good in the mornings which is the main reason why I have a pair of plastic wrapped Bibby's sitting in the corner. If your skiing consists of endless fresh, Nick McNutt minigolf lines then go for the Bent's they're perfect but if you ski REAL resorts and REAL chop then go burlier with the blackops or Bibbys.

Favorite ski in my quiver. PB&Js are my daily driver though.

I definitely want something softer and more playful, but I hear what you are saying with the chop. I have a burlier ski for all mountain and powder and am looking for something more for those days where the mountain should stay mostly covered. I like a surfier style ski where you can butter and slide as you please. It seemed like the blackops were stiffer in the middle and wouldnt act that way at all. I would probably favor the blackops if someone thinks otherwise let me know.

If you want surfy, get chetlers. I'm currently on chetlers but I've always ridden surfy skis (hellbents, ghost chants, shredditors) and out of all of them, chetlers are the way to go and are an absolute fucking blast in powder, they're soooo playful. They're also stiff enough that they'll hold a decent edge when ripping down hard stuff, not to mention that they're also a hell of a time in the park for getting buttery
