Bendings Breaks HELP

aight, i need to bend a pair of breaks because my mike nicks are too wide. The Breaks fit 85 mm and my skis are 86. Can anyone tell me the best way to do this without breaking my bindings or snapping the breaks themselves. Like what to use, where to bend them from, etc. Thanks for any help

well u can bend them but u might get trouble with them later on so u could get the wide break on getboards if u want

im not interested in spending forty bucks for 1 or 2 millimeters tho, thats my point

we if you look at the break in the inside where it rubs on the ski there is ussally like useless rubber their so what we do i use a grinder and get all that excess rubber away then... you can slowly bend them which is cool too.

put them in a vise, cut a ski pole in half and slide it over the brake and use the cut pole as leverage to bend the brake. and viola wide brakes !

ive done about 20-30 pair in a shop, heres how i always went about doing it

get a blowtorch, or some sort of heat, remove the break from the binding (obviously u dont wanna be slinging a flame at your binding)...heat up the metal on the break for 15-20 seconds...quickly insert in vice, tighten, and gently pull..do it to both sides

will work perfect, just dont heat them up for too long or u will bend them way too much

If it's just 1 mm difference I would just shave off the plastic on the inside of them, the part that would be hanging up on your ski. That plastic is well over a few mm's thick so you could easily do it.

Yeah come on its one centimeter....chances are if you just blow on the brake they will bend that far. Or just gently pull on it now, its only a centimeter christ. You people never cease to amaze me with the amount of stupidity that flows from your mouth.

who cares, its the brake, just pull real hard and it will bend, brakes usually end up getting fucked up anyways when you eat shit.

^ i know this, the the whole tiny problem of fitting the binding on the ski comes before my thought of it brending from a bail. Unless u found some way to do the second one first

you don't even need to 'bend' them at the 90 degree angle. You just need to turn them out just pull em out a mm with your hands so the face like this /||\ who cares if they look like wings.

if you just bend them out you are going to get worked. the minute you angle the ski the brake is going to catch the snow. in a half pipe it will most likely catch and rip the brake apart and or rip the ski off your boot. so if you really want to do it right. follow the instructions mentioned above. if you want to be a bone head about it ^^just take your brakes off and hope that some one grabs your run away ski for ya.

Tweakard - You're a moron, yes there is no way you could blow on the skis and move them a centimeter...but there is a way you could blow on them to have them move a milimeter? Come on you fool its solid metal, doubt you can do that.

A centimeter is really not that far to bend a break, depending on your screen its like this long ___ , if you cant even bend a piece of metal thats the size of a twig that far then maybe you should star lifting weights or something...

you can bend them out like wings by hand, i have a pair of 80mm brakes on my scratch bc which are 90mm. the only problem i have is when im skiing with my feet together down a groomer they catch but there is no problem in the pipe and they wouldn't blow apart on you. but the dude is right about shaving down the plastic on the ends of the brakes. you a dremel, they work really well for that
