how would u bend a 20 ft rail to make a c rail wit? its either 2 or 2 1/2' pipe ,,,how would u do it with out putting kinks in it? bending it on a tree would make a kink.................

actually, if ya do it right, bending it around a tree you can do it with out kinking it, it just takes a very good eye.

my friend bent a rail and between a tree with his truck, its not a sharp kink but its pretty close

you're gonna have to heat the whole thing , and keep it heated....I'm guessing it's not and easy do-it-yourself task. Granted I've never tried....but I can't imagin you're going to be able to create a smooth C without some pipe bending machines.

pipe bending machines are really expensive. your looking at at least 10 g's to get a good pipe bender. just use the tree and winch trick. its works well. Look at the rail in seth morrisons part of ski movie 2, that rail came out smooth and was bent inbetween 2 trees.

i heard 2 cap the end and fill it with hot sand then use a torch on the ends and itll make the whole thing soft? do you think that will work?

your best bet is going to be go to your local hard ware store and pick up a blow torch, one of the yellow cannister benzene ones, they burn much hotter. get a couple friends find a nice big ol' tree and have one person constantly heating the pipe primarily in the area that you want it to bedn, and then just keep working it.

as for the sand idea that could be tricky, if you are going to do that you basically need the sand that they use for sand blasters...no figure out how to heat it..not worth it. just get a heating torch a coupleof trees and some friends and you are in business

They get a pretty smooth bend on a rail in some moive, I dont remember which one but it is pretty good. Or I all else fails go to a construction site. They always have pipe benders there, plus when i worked with a construction company this summer they were all laid back and I bet they would do it for you.

Whoever said that a pipe bender it way to expensice is wrong, you can get a pipe bender at home depot for about 60 bucks...worthwhile if u plan on making a few rails...also if you plan on heating a pipe until you can mold it you're gona need a pretty intense blow tourch, a REAL good pair of gloves, and a couple of friends to help

The pipe benders that you buy at home depot are for really small pipes. You need a big hydrolic one to bend the guage pipe you need to build a rail.

Well me and my friend started building some rails and the pipe bender we got bends up to 1 1/4 in pipe...so if ur makin a shotgun rail then that's no problem...i guess for a rainbow that might be a little thin then

its really simple, metal moves like butter if its hot, totally just heat it up and itll bend real easy you have to make sure its real hot tho-

 
if its only 20 feet, you can end it around those big oil drums in the middle of feilds sometimes. we have a 50 foot c rail. we waited for the mexicans to go to bed, and then we yanked it from a farm. it was the top of like a big greenhouse from a nursery
