Bending PVC

Ok, so i guess there was a post on this a week ago or something but last night i took schedule 40 pvc 2 inches thick, 10 feet long, and bent it in between these railroad ties that my front patio is made of then i wrapped a towel or 2 or 3 around the whole rail and poured boiling water on it so the towels will insulate it. This morning i went out to check and it was completely stiff and bent, no i can make a C-rail. Hooray for me, hooray for u.

how does PVC hold up? like, does it just break after a couple of slides?

pvc is awsome i cut it into 2 foot peices and drilled them on to a 2 by 6 andive done it like 100 times and its still sturdy

im thinking of doing a dragon tail rail but i only have a ten foot pvc, should i do that or a c or something?

10's pretty short for a c-rail, it would be too sharp. I think it would be good for a downkink maybe, then you could do little disasters and stuff.

if you drill holes in the pvc it will break after a while where you drilled the holes, its better to screw up through a 2 x 4 or something so you dont have any holes on the top

just use the rails that are suposed to go on top of fences. they bend easy and work great. we used them for our rollercoaster box.

where I work we built a couple PVC (yellow gas piping) rails. they hold up really well. ours were in the park like 75% of the season and are in great condition for this winter.

The best way to bend a PVC pipe is this. hook one end up to a vacuum (reverse setting) or hook one end to a blow dryer. each will make the air warm and will heat the whole rail. then using vice grips u can make turn points and curves in the rail.

If you want to make a c-rail like the one in happy dayz you will need a 28 foot section of PVC (longest length I've ever found for yellow PVC) s-rails are really hard with PVC because you need a lot of vice grips, more heat, and building a proper stand for it is really hard.

i jsut use PVC conduit. that stuf is cheap, and bends as well. and rollercoastes are easy to make.
