Bending Brakes?

I bought a new pair of bindings, but the brakes are not wide enough for my skis. I can buy a new pair for like 40 bucks, but is it worth it? I mean is it ok to just bend the brakes out? Or will that make it a hazard when skiing, with the brakes hitting each other and getting caught and all that?

What kind of bindings and how much do you have to bend them?

Typically, brakes pull in close to the binding when your foot is in the binding and stick out when not. Stick your boot in the binding as though you're skiing to see what I mean. It's typically not a good idea to bend a brake outward. It will catch and bend when riding switch. However, remaking the 90 degree bend is ok. A propane torch to soften the metal, broken ski pole, and a little bit of time goes a long way.
