Bending Brakes

I just bought Fujatives with PX12 JIBs, and I understand some minor bending of the brakes will need to occur. Will most shops be able to do this for me, can I or should I do it myself, etc. Fill me in so I know what to expect.

I think the px jibs should fit on the fujatives, because they have a small waist. If they don't, you will have to bend them yourself. Shops will not bend brakes as a result of liability.... unless you sweet talk them with like a six pack or something. They're easy to bend though.

hmmmm, really? Then I guess my local shop is just dumb or something, because they refused to bend my FKS for me. No biggie.

FKS is a different monster you can ruin the heel piece if u bend them too hard and without heating up then u need a new binding....

as for the PX on a fuji just get a wide brake from your local shop and youll be allsett or you can just bend them with a small piece of pipe real easy...

I ended up bending them myself, the FKS, that is. It's not as hard as most people make it out to be. Just follow the TGR instructions...

but anyways, i would assume the px jibs' brakes are at what an 80mm? I had bought some axials with the 80mm brake for some chronic wides, which I believe are the same waist width. Just grab both sides of the brake and pull out. There's no need to straighten them out or anything... bend them out far enought to fit over the waist and you're set... just make sure you don't crack the plastic casing through which the brakes go through. Easy does it.

So can I bend them myself before they are mounted, in the even a shop wont bend them for me?

I know tons of people (myself included) that have had shops bend brakes for them. I just had a pair of 106mm underfoot skis mounted with PX12 standard brake bindings and Christy Sports in Boulder had no prob bending them for me. They have even done a pair of Spats of r a friend. If your shop won't do it, they are bitches (and probably incompetent).

if you were smart youd cut the whole break off so it doesen t dig in and shatter the heelpiece like what happens with most looks....

So I just called my local shop, (actually not very local, but the closest shope I'd trust) and they said it wouldnt be a problem at all.

yeah il pretty sure you can get wide brakes for those bingers too, and really your shop is going to bend them for you sick, my shop wasnt gunna mount my FKS because it voids the warrenty when you bend the brakes, but they did after i held up my iron first, or pretty much bitched about it for a while

I almost did get wide brakes, but I saved a few buck by going with the regular ones and the bending of the brakes is free I just pay for mounting which I would have had to do with wide brakes as well. I'll leave the wide brakes for the pow skis.
