Bending Brakes

ok, so my msp 187s are more bigger than my ARV 185s were, and now i have to bend my FK bindings to fit the 98mm waist. Please give me some tips, i know alot of you guys are riding these bindings this year. My shop won't do it for me because of liability reasons. A step by step tutorial would be great, thanks in advance.

Chances are you wont be able to actually bend them. That steel is wikked hard, and is made NOT to bend - hence a ski brake. Really the only way to do it is with an 02 torch. Your regular propane torch wont work - gets about half as hot as you need it to be. You have an 02 torch?

No, no i don't i don't have any torch at my disposal rite now as i'm in a college dorm...I'll be lucky to find a vice and a hammer.

whoever said you can't bend the fks bindings, is wrong i just did it, and i believe it could be done to fit about a ~130mm waist, mine are bent to 100 and there is plenty of brake left. The tgr boards seem to be down now....but there is a tutoral over there you should check out, just search for it in the tech section.

cut a ski pole close to the handle. then with that ski pole stick the break in it. then bend the hell outta it

OK, just did it, was pretty easy, just took the binding apart, took out the brakes, waited for a janitor to park his truck long enuf for me to jack the vice for a few minutes, used my friends bike seat post (without his knowlege) to bend the brakes and then put the binders back together...they fit fine now. Didn't need a heat gun or anything. If anyone else is planning on doing this check the TGR forums, there is a mad helpful tutorial with pictures and everything on there...thanks for the help guys.
