Bending brake question

fks/pivot brakes are wider than the box width, they'll fit up to about 85mm with minimal/no bending. Bending them out to fit around a 95mm ski is possible without the brake being too short though.

Here are two videos that should help (first vid is on Markers but same idea). If you want it to come out nicely you'll have to take the heel assembly apart which the second shows.

I've never used this method, but if you're already mounted up or impatient maybe try this...

Def don't recommend this with pivots. Other brakes have a lot softer metal but pivots seem pretty tough. Pop them out and throw them in a vice. Throw a breaker bar/pipe on them to straighten them out and then re-bend to the desired width.

This is what everybody did at the dawn of the fat ski era. When did Look start making brakes wider than 75?

yeah it’s pretty straight forward if you take the heel piece apart! i have a good collection of these older ones stashed

and i think the wider breaks came with the silver look pivot era, somebody else might know better though.

Does anyone have a method for bending large brakes smaller? I heard its more difficult. I have a couple ideas but id rather not break my brakes

i mean i haven’t tried it but you could take the pivot heel apart, bend the brake arms straight and then measure the width and bend them back. could be a bit long though and leave a curved bit in the brake as it’s not super easy to get them perfect.

or just get a new set and sell the wider ones
