Belleayre, Hunter, Or Windham

i can only talk for hunter and windham becuase i have only been to belleayre once. ok so here goes nothing

Hunter Mtn

Big fireman and police scene, town has lots of bars and thats the type of people you usually get there. as for the mountain, has a seperate beginner area so less noobs up hill. they have some nice steep stuff especially over on hunter 3. i usually spend most of my day over there, then you have k 27 to have fun on too if you like the bumps. as for trees, plenty of them to go exploring w/ little cliffs and what not. ok on to the parks. they aren't bad, i personaly only have skied there on shitty ass days and they parks were ok. a few medium size hits, some small ones. plenty of rails. i never found anything set up very well, but then again i have only gone there on shitty as days. as for the pipe, its pretty good, usualy cut smoothe and err, don' tknow the hieght off hand.

Windham

more of a family style resort, only 2 bars in town, lots of fmaily resturants. big on ny business people, chinese, and losts of families. as for trails the main peak is pretty much split into two halfs, to skiers right off the lift is all blacks, steep and fast. wheelchair is one of our bump runs that ironically turns into a race course at the bottom of it. on skiers left off the lift there is a variety of blues to cruise on. nothing really exciting maybe except warpath and wise acres. East peak just got a new high speed quad and a new trail so that will be the place to be. 3 blacks, a blue, and a fun green wanderer to have fun in the woods off of. wing'n'it is another narrow bump run when they leave it. as for parks we have are main park on warmup w/ plenty of rails and jumps, usualy there are 3-4 jumps including a nice large table/stepdown at the end. the pipe is going to be nice this year w/ our new zaugg cutter and pipe groomer from stratton. on top of the pipe is a few cliff drops and usualy a sweet table or step down. the jib park has a bunch of little rails to. we also are planning on a skier x course as well.

as for trees, wanderer is a good one to go exploring off of, and anything between wolver and wipeout is cool

belleayre is ok we have some nice boxes but no rails its kind of boring and our jumps or ok. word on the street this year is that we are going to have some guy from mtn creek be in charge of the park so it should be a good year for the park and belleayre probally has the best woods skiing out of these 3

yea good ol catamount just across the border. i actually like it there. my crew tries to make a trip there once a year. if you see a bunch of blue windham jackets there at night one time it will be us.

no thats not true, im actually good friends with a guy that works at the jib lab for mt creek, the guy jimmy p left and they got a new welder..thats about it..and im pretty sure hes not going to belleayre.

Not that i am biased, but this group mf mountains, windham is gonn be stepping it up this season and in ones to come. Sure it woun't be anything near VT or anything. But in this group after talking to the people behind windham's "reinvention". The parks chould see some major benefit too!

i am just saying what i heard its not a fact although i heard it from the super indendent but almost everything that belleayre says is a lie so whatever

alex, u are so dumb. belleayre has a much better park than windham. and this year has a lot of potential. i would go belleayre

i go to hunter a few times a year, they have a tiny tiny half pipe, not many jumps, and the ones they do have r small-medium, and their rails?? nothing special, they had a ghetto ass c-rail, that barely curved, and i tihnk the other was a double barrel flat bar, and they didn't have much else setup besides a few small ride on's

i plan on hitting up belleayre this year, im from jersey, so i ski at creek, and their park is much better than hunter's, i haven't been to windham in a while so i cant comepare mt creek to them.

first off, belleayre gets way more snow than either of those places, and the trees off of deer run are dope. Second, belleayres overall terrain is way better and less crowed than both hunter and windam, and now they have a high speed quad to back it up. Third, windam usually has a bunch of shitty features, and a few good ones, although i'll admit that their park is probably better than belleayres, but it's not phenomenal. hunter is good, although it gets way too crowded. i'm too tired to finish this post, see you all at the belleayre rail jam tomorrow

correct on that point.

however i do belive hunter and windham does get more snow, and hunter can blow the guns off both of belleayre and windham w/ their capacity

The way the catskill range is set most of the peeks are do get about the same amount of snow, again like you said im sure outwest the difference is much more noticible.

Belleayre: 100"-110"

Windham: 110"-120"

Hunter: 115"-125"

between wedel and upper wheelchair i found to be pretty nice for trees. and then it dumps you out right at the top of the park. this was 2 years ago tho. when i went there last year there were trees all along the side of it so you couldnt cut in. idk how it is on usual days tho. the 1 time i got there that season they got like a foot of snow the day before

il answer my own question

i personally can't say anything for bellearye becuase iv only been there once. so here is what i have for windham and hunter.

Park - windham

Lodge- Hunter

Snowmaking- Hunter

Trails-Tie

Service- Windham

Parking-Windham

NightSkiing- Windham (hunter has none)

Skiing alternative- Windham (tubing, ice skate, rock climb, bungie thingy)

Family friendly- Windham

yes i could be biased, but iv skied both areas alot, and still do.

My buddies and I had the typical debate on which Catskill resort to ski on sunday and I am happy that we chose Belleayre. The conditions were great and the trails had plenty of snow cover. I cannot compare them to the conditions and the amount of terrain at the other two; but, there was no line for the high-speed quad. I would imagine the other two, especially Hunter was probably a little more busy. Did anybody go? Belleayre did not have any features, but always a place to skip the holiday weekend rush.

Catskill resorts suck, city dwellers ice and crazy theft

That being said Windham.

You boys should just drive to PA if your outside of the usual VT NY MA tristate area

I just raved about how much fun we had at Belleayre. The two times we went after storms last season were awesome too. Belleayre was real chill and had no city people atmosphere at all. Actually the opposite. It was real chill and no lines.

Plus the closest VT spot is 3 and a half and that will have the even richer city people than the catskills. Ya know, the pretentious ones who think the Catskills suck. We already went to killi three times and our day at Belleayre we got way more runs and way more terrain covered (all snow app). Also, not sure why you said MA, look at my location and home mtn. MA is not a day option. PA is not an option to avoid city dwellers either.

I misread, you said travel to PA if you are outside area. Nvm what I said, but Belleayre is the solid option for a 80 min drive thru backroads

Lets see... Hunters way over priced, but has a really solid mountain for just sking. the park crew sets up a pretty dope park mid-season. Windham def has the best terrain parks out of the 3 but its sooooo icy there. The term "ice coast" was probably formed there. I've been there probably ten time over the last few years and have never had a day were the conditions weren't shit. IMO avoid

Belleayre is the mountain I'm most familiar with and usually go the most out of those 3 but they have the most pathetic attempt at a terrain park i have ever seen, i got a concussion last year hitting a box rail cut there was a nail sticking out of the end of it! if your gonna go there, go to ski trees or groomers, not for there terrain parks. just my 2 cents

The catskills are much closer to NYC that's why you get a bunch of city people. Also mount snow is just over 2 hours from those mountains.
