Believe me, i've done my research, but i've forced myself into a bind

I've basically been researching skis this year for quite some time, normally i can make my decision quickly because i face two factors, all around ski and money. But this year it's different, i've aquired 2 jobs and i have... well .... plenty of money. Therefore i went out and got my self a pair of pow skis (lib tech) and now i've narrowed down my possible park specific skis to four choices. (i'm probably gonna be around 60% air, 40% jib)

first are the line afterbangs. i guess i went out for a drive and missed the red light and drove right into the hype train. I mean, don't get me wrong. I absolutely LOVE line skis. 2 years ago i had a pair of invaders that fuckin rocked. but they were just too skinny. and i was thinking about getting anthems this year but since i got pow, i figured they'd be just a little wide for park specific (I'm 5'10 140lbs.) So the afterbang fits the scenerio for what specs i'm looking for but i'm still unsure on this construction. Not to mention the graphics are pretty much the gayest things i've ever seen. (i'd go for the 177 btw)

Next are the Surface Nine Lifes. I've never skied surface but i've heard nothing but good about the construction, durability, and function. I kinda like the specs on 'em but the shape has me a little concerned (i don't really know why). They seem pretty solid for what i'm wanting but i have really no idea cause i've never skied them.

Third, I'm considering the ON3P Blue Steele's. Basically, there just damn sexy. Love the specs on the 181cm and people seem to love 'em also. The ONLY thing that's concerning me is a mid-stiff flex. I do like them a little buttery. Definately my favorite graphic (but that's about 5% influence on my decision). As long as they hold up, i would love to ski a pair of ON3P blue steele's.

And last but not least, I have the Super Deluxe viewer special 'YOU PICK IT FOR ME'... through the research i may have overlooked a few key things and skis that 'you' may recommend. I've kind of been engrossed in this for quite some time now and I'm getting a little jumbled. Basically i'm looking for mid flex, something around 110-85-110 ish.. but varying sizes are ok. and 177-181cm. i don't think i can handel any bigger. if you didn't see above i'm 5'10 140lbs and best trick is 7 tail and 450 outs. but i'm going to get over 80 days next year cause due to my super awesome special adventour pe class, i get to go ski for 5 hours every other day during the week. I'm in Park City, Utah (just thought that might help).

And please, PLEASE don't just say "i have so and so ski and I LOVE EM" .. that doesn't help. at least compare there performance to another ski or something. I put a lotta work into this and i just want some legit answers

The karma is handed out in bulk for good answers.

and P.S. (last question)

my pow skis came with Rossignol FKS 155 bindings (the 'turntable' ones) and i've heard there damn near the best. so should i leave them on powder skis or put them on park skis and buy some more for my pow?

THANK YOU

Have you looked at atomic punxs? They sound like the perfect ski for you. the 182 measures 112.5-82-112.5-21. They might be slightly softer then you would like but they wouldnt be near as soft as the afterbangs.

I say get something that was out in 09, so that it has a year of testing from a ton of people(even if you get the 2010 model that is similar to 09). THe Nine Lifes should be a good choice, Moment Reno Jibs, Armadas..(at your weight Thalls would be fine, or AR6, or if you want a ski that skis stiff Pipe Cleaners). And leave the FKS on the Lib Techs(did you get the rockered ones with Magne Traction?). You can get more of those if you want for your park ski, but you don't need to. For a lightweight durable binding that doesn't pre release but releases when it should, I recommend Tyrolia peak 15s(BC has them 167 shipped).

hmmmm, for both Surface and ON3P are rather overshadowed and dont get a whole lot of reviews on things such as durability, or at least that i can find

personaly im looking to buy jerranimos, they look pretty damn solid but i really canrt speak for brands ive never riden/reseached ALOT.

but i can speak for your line situation...the afterbangs are obivously a more jib specific ski...if you more air then jib would you look for a air specific ski?? (im aware the afterbang performs in the air aswell)

but have you thought about the anthem?? a couple extra mm on the base for a bit more stability and it still has some gourgous butter zones, perfect for jibbing and little more airs then the afterbangs

of coarse it wont be a bombproof ski, buttt you have to deal with trade offs, im going through the same deal :/

I was looking at the punx for a while cause a friend i had, had em and loved them. He said that they didn't, and i quote "throw down" on rails. just kinda scurrin me about the whole thing, but they'll definately still be an option

If your looking for a real stiff ski try reno jibs. This years model (2010) is softer than last years but will probably stand out as one of the stiffest park skis out there. Lightweight and has so much pop.

hm, the skis are all somewhat similar for the purpose, but different in terms of construction.

1st. line invader.

pros+

-theyve said its very durable (they froze the ski in ice and then smacked it on rails etc)

-fits the specs. youre after

-is buttery soft and playful

-has an innovative technology

-line is a legit company

-alot of people really like them

-theyre reasonably cheap, but that dont matter for u i guess

cons-

-the first of the kind, so no modifications have been made from 1 year to another, i.e. improvements

-if u think the invaders were too thin, this ski might be too.

-i heard tehy get noodly quite quickly, i.e. loose their poppyness

-the top sheet. if u dont like it thats bad, cuz ull be looking at it the whole time when skiing.

doing this for all skis i figured would take too long, and i dont if my info on the others is completely correct

surface line and especially ON3P are all really legit companies. im going for the blue steele this year. love the shape and flex pattern + the top sheet looks ill. ON3P is a smaller company and we should support them. and you can get good pre order deals on their skis atm.

as for the other question, which skis we would also recommend you, i would suggest checkin out the völkl wall, atomic punx or head JO, but theyre all stiffer skis. maybe the K2 kung fujas if u want a softer ski, but it is quite heavy and not soo park orientated, more allmountainish. oh, maybe also consider some skis of armada. the ar6 holds up quite well and is not that stiff. i own it. or the 2010 t-hall i heard is fairly butterlicious.

so ya go for the blue steele if u ask me. ON3P is the most legit company, as many would agree with me.

hope i could make your decision a little easier. peace

.....So many park skis are alot stiffer than RJs. They are medium hand flexing. Skiing them they ski a bit stiffer because of all the camber, but still not going to stand out as one of the stiffest park skis out there.. Still a good choice though. Too bad Moment didn't have a pre-season sale or I would own a pair.

They are about the stiffness of the TNKs. My renos are deff not a medium flex. A medium flex is like an AR6 to chronics.

Chronics were stiffer after few days on both skis. I would say Extremes(the stiffest) and Chronics are a bit stiffer, Chronics are stiffer than TNKs after the break in period(and when new).

get some 333 skis. so basically you make the skis. you chose specs, stiffness, graphics and stuff like that

I don't know much about the skis you have listed, besides what's been posted here, but I'm looking into getting some Nine Lives or Alpha 2's for later this season. I've heard nothing but good things about both of them, I still haven't decided which to go with, but since you don't have the Alpha's listed, I'd say go with the Nine Lives, has a good flex, and Surface has always made some durable skis.

Have you checked Volkl Walls or K2 Disorderlys? They're both good park skis, I have disorderlys and I've only heard good things about the Walls.

I've been really curious/skeptical about Afterbangs too. I feel like they're the kind of ski you'd have to at least see in a shop first before you buy a pair. As for the anthems, they really aren't that wide of a park ski. They just seem like it because they're always right next to the invaders which are really narrow. Personally I didn't really like the Anthems when I rode on them but that might have been because they were much longer than what I was used to skiing on.I think you'd be really happy with any of the skis you've picked out. The only things I'd say are that the Afterbangs will probably not be the best jump ski since they're pretty soft and intended for rails. And it might be worth it to check out Armada's line. They make super solid skis. I have a pair of PC's and they're amazing.

I think you should consider the anthem, its not a pow ski, its a symmetrical all wide park ski, its going to be soft, but not like the afterbang, since they added 10 carbon ollie bands so its going to be a mid flex ski now, it will perform better on jumps than the afterbang and is already a proven ski. You should check them out the new Line Website is up

If the afterbangs have the same flex as the invaders did, they will definitely get a little squirly landing on bigger jumps. That said, they kill it on any jib you throw at it.
Surface makes killer skis, although the nine life is there first park specific ski.
The jeronimo also looks sick, i've never ridden ON3Ps, but from everything i've heard about them they seem great.
Skis i think you should check out:Amplid Syntax (they claim it is the lightest park skis on the market)Line AnthemLiberty Larose ProMoment Reno Jib/Rocker

OK.. SO UPDATE BUMP

My options have been narrowed down and added and i'm now deciding between the Surface 9 Life.. I'm just afraid of the only length close to me is 182cm.and i'm 5 10 and that seems a tad long.

Next is the 178cm Amplid Syntax.. seems like it's perfect for me, i'm just scared of it breaking because of it's 'ultralight' core.

and last would be the ON3P Blue Steel's. still definately an option.

I need OPINIONS!

I am questioning your choice of the nine life. It does not fit the geometry you are looking for. You though invaders were skinny and you are looking at a ski that is overall skinnier. Out of your choices, I would take the afterbang. Line has done a ton of research and development on them so I would trust them coming out in the first year. The On3p's have not been used by the consumer but I woudl say it is safe to ski the blue steel's also.

i wouldnt be worried about the amplid core. as for the 9lives, i dont know much about them, but that graphic is dope, and 182 should be money, specially if your doing more jumps. Im 510 and 10 lbs heavier, 181-83 is like my perfect length. itll just give ya that little extra something on jumps, and you wont notice much diff on rails.

my friend nate stanley has the punx and he throws the biggest screamin seemans and froggers this planet has ever seen

WHO DO YOU THINK I WAS FUCKING QUOTING GARRETT.. but rry. if i get punx i better instantly be as good as nate.. like that very next minute.. or else it's your neck i'm after
