Being good at park doesnt make you a good skier

I think there is some truth to this but a lot of it is dependent on where you ski. In MN, on the tow ropes, you see this type of situation all the time where a kid will be really solid on rails but can't ski down a normal run without looking unnatural. Features are generally quite close together where you're either fighting for speed or trying to slow down.

I'd expect a skier who grew up riding in CO would be a pretty solid all around skier due to availability to more complex terrain and the parks are completely different out there. There's more time in between features to link some turns in.

it Makes you a good park skier.

but maybe you wouldn't be so good on a race line?

or maybe not so good in the deep shit?

but you have to learn all that control to be able to do that shit on skis on the slopes. the trick the skier does in the air is only a part of the whole deal. you need the right carve(or not to carve) for your take off. and then have the execution and control to land the trick. park kind of takes elements from different types of skiing and melds them together in the beauty that it is. if you are a trained acrobat getting on skis, I highly doubt you could go do a 12 on your first day out...and even if you could, you'd be considered a good skier.
