Hey so I've been skiing on and off for around a year and just recently began to get serious. I need a few pointers? Do I buy twin tips? How good do I even need to be to do freestyle? Sorry if this is insanely stupid but I'm a newbie so go easy, +K for all replies
And any other begginer tips appreciated :D

if you are going to get serious you have to get twin tips if you want to learn, make sure you like it first and are going to be commited.

Ya, get twin tips but really all you have to do is go for it man, and you'll start to land tricks

Yeah thanks a bunch! The bindings are quite dear but? Would a pair with broken brakes be ok ? +K to everyone

Ok so if your learning spins make sure u spot your landing my first year of park i spent three hours on 1 jump 1st 3 hits i 180 next 3 360 till i got to 7 i was stoked. good luck man

freestyling is actually not that hard to get into. it just involves guts as you try new things. while im not saying twintips arent mandatory, i did slide boxes and do small rotations on all mountain carve skis. but yea get twintips. your best bet for cheap skis is used gear. u can get insane prices on things that arent that bad

just a quick questio for the OP: how are u just starting and know nothing about freestyle yet have 140 somthin posts???

I never said I knew nothing ? I started skiing but and became interested freestyle but my local freestyle scene was waaaay underground now I'm really getting involved but my coach said i need Twin tips before I can start the freestyle

twin tips are really good all round skis full stop. so they're great to learn on. forgiving and fun.
but ive said this to a lot of people in your position. learn to ski really well first. sure you can hit a few jumps and slide a few boxes, but dont get obsessed with park stuff to the detriment of normal skiing. the better you get at skiing the more comfortable you'll be in the park, not to mention safer. you'll learn how the skis react to certain conditions and weight transfers and you'll look a lot better too.
a friend of mine is a snowboarder and he spends all his time in the park. as a result his all mountain ability has suffered and he can't keep up with us when we're just skiing around normally. dont let that happen to you.
best of luck with it all though!

Actually here in Glasgow there is two park days with a different setup each day Thursday and friday? :) Thats quite good?

My advice is to make sure you like skiing first before you buy twins, last year I switched from snoboarding to skiing.. I didn't like it all that at first but then now it's my life,,, overall just don't be afraid to try anything new

get twin tips for sure, and make sure that they are center mounted. just as long as you can skii pretty well before you start park i think u should be good.

centre mount may not be the best thing for a beginner. it might lull him into a false sense of security about learning forward when turning etc. more to do with regular all mountain skiing than park though. id recommend getting them mounted at about 3cm back from centre. it wont affect your park skiing much but itll make you a much better all round skier because you'll have to put pressure on the front of the boots to carve properly

Right ok , to sort this Uk issue! ENGLAND has no mountains only dryslopes and a few fridges , SCOTLAND has many mountains , fridges and dryslopes ? is that ok? Scotland is a part of the UK.

just learn by watching other guys in the park and on the mountain as well, you will be amazed on how much you learn by just watching somebody that knows what they are doing

Find a friend to get into it with. (snowboarders are acceptable) causethen you will be more motivated and stoked having some one to ski with. [not motivated exactly... More like... Inspire] much better. Also just make sure you get satisfaction and have fun doing it. You're not going to be with in range of professionally competing for a very long time so make sure you're not trying to be that kind of skier when it doesn't matter. It's all about the fun. Hence having a friend to chill with and keep you stoked. Goodluck man

Learn to control your speed and carve first. Then learn how to jump small ramps and progress onto bigger ones -> learn to grab -> learn to spin -> learn to do it all together -> go big
