Beginner Cameras

I bet this is a repost but fuck it.

Im just starting to get into filming and i already have a Flip HD (lol) that ive been using. I was wondering what is a good, cheap, fish eye & light adaptable, video camera. It wont be anything pro like a VX1000 but just something not too big.

Nothing over 500$Im alright with cameras, I would say I'm okay at Photos

Gorilla Pod

I would want them to film a little bit

I try to follow (doesnt work too well) but i also just shoot from a certain point while the skier is doing his/her thing

iMac 27"

iMove ('09 or '10), 5

I have no idea about the next 5 questions

If you can increase your budget just a bit then you could get the panasonic tm700 which is a beast. imo it's the best consumer camera for filming action sports in that price range. don't worry about the last questions, those types of cameras are out of your budget.

don't suggest a video camera when you don't know anything about it ;)

....seriously though, don't suggest a tape camera. they're outdated as FUCK

Honestly, for 500 dollar buget, i would go with the new black edition go pro. The panasonic tm700 is sick, but its out of your proce range a little bit.

I don't know anything about it? I own one haha.

And it's may be 'outdated' but it's cheap and useable. He did say beginner.. lol.

hv40's do have slots for miniSD, ...but after doing research I couldnt find anyhting on how well miniSD's work for video with the hv40

yeah. Same with the A1H1.

either way. Anyone who can't figure out how to import tape footage should just give up on learning video. It's annoying, sure, but if you're going to whine like that, then you're a wimp like Jamie ;)

working with tape for 50+ hrs a week makes you want to slap a bitch (like sean ;)

for once, im actually gonna have to agree with splice. it sounds like you are just basically asking for something that can take video but also can have that fisheye affect. if so, a gopro would be perfect for you, considering how cheap they are. if, however, your looking for more of a dslr type of camera that is a whole different issue

I agree. For someone who is just starting out filming, honestly, just use a gopro and have fun skiing. If you want to get more into filming, maybe get a camcorder like the tm700 or whatever else people are suggesting, but until then use a gopro and see if you want to upgrade to one of those. If your like me and want to be able to upgrade your camera without buying a whole new one (as with camcorders, you cant buy a new lens obviously) you might want to get a DSLR. But don't buy a T2i and kit lens for $600 and expect to get as good footage as a 600 dollar camcorder. I just like the idea that as I get more and more into filming I can upgrade my gear, so I got a T2i. But for now just get a gopro, and maybe upgrade to a camcorder later on. Gopro is much better than a flip hd (not that its an amazing camera itself - its shit compared to a dslr or good camcorder)

best advice... and if/when you eventually upgrade, you'll have a gopro to mess around with/ get a different perspective as well as a camcorder (or dslr) as a main camera

Bitch = Jamie

1337, you're pretty much our gift that has been sent down to us in order to clean m&a of splice. can't you just cut off his access to m&a or something? i mean banning him would be the best, but i understand if you're not able to do that... #stopsplice2012

What happened to his thread yesterday? Came on this morning looking for it but it wasn't there.

Banned for a day and I was nice enough to remove the shitstorms so he wasn't totally helpless in getting ganged up on.

Banned splice? haha sucks to be him, what was the reasoning? and splice hasn't gotten anything that's actually that mean at all, in fact in that thread(or as far as I saw into it) it was all constructive criticism.

Everyone was complaining and he was starting to take away from the quality of M&A and distracting the point of some of the original threads he posted in. Hopefully he learns a lesson

So all he's done is post a boring video? I'm not trying to stick up for him but it doesn't seem too fair

panasonic tm700/tm900. Might be a bit over 500 though. Don't get a dslr unless you're ready to spend at least $1000 (preferably more). Don't make the mistake of getting say, a 60d or whatever and only using the kit lens.

poor splice, just a 12 year old that wants to learn but gets shit on by young adults...

minus the pointless, stupid posts he makes,

i feel his pain.

he doesn't get shit on because he wants to learn but because off all the pointless posts and how he acts that splice is the best "video production company" on NS and says he is the CEO and has a Colorado rep and thinks he sponsors pros.
