Begginner needing help picking gear!

I've been skiing a couple of time and i really like it so i figure i might aswell and go ahead and buy my own stuff since ill be going hopefully 2 weekends a month during season. I want ski's that i can hit the terrain park then go down the slopes. I would need everything: ski's,boots, and bindings. I can fly down blue trail's no problem. Im 5'9 125lbs, also im located in Indiana if thats any help at all

i currently ride public enemies and they were great as my first own ski. Yes they are heavy but the heaviness didn't bother me too much. I actually think the weight was good until a certain point because on jumps i would always be off balance but with the weight of the public enemies i think it helped me out a little bit. (or it may have just been my mind thinking that)

I myself am looking to get new gear as well-lighter skis that have the same functionality as the k2 public enemies(great for all mountain/park imo) and a better boot(maybe full tilts if my feet are narrow enough)

^^ made me want full tilt boots

k2 public enemies are really good as a beginner ski. as for boots, you need to go to your local ski shop (hopefully somewhat reputable, or if there are any in indiana) and ask to see a bootfitter and tell him that you're a beginner who's looking into freestyle skiing... he'll know what to do.
as for bindings, you can go to your shop and ask them what they think. you're probably going to want to stay on the cheaper end of the spectrum, because there is no need to buy $300 bindings as a beginner.
hope that helps!

Ive never been to Paoli Peaks, were supposed to hit up there next trip.

The two ski's that have really took my interest are the Line Invaders and K2 Silencers. Any comments on these skis or better for the money?

i've owned the line invaders and for your weight they would be PERFECT....except for the all mountain aspect. You would want to get them centered because that is what the ski is designed to be mounted at but for a beginner skiing down slopes centered would just be too difficult... i would almost go with the silencer if you are stuck on that because you can mount that a little bit back from center and still go down most of the runs and kill in the park...
for a beginner binding i reccommend the rossignol axium you can find it here at evogear for like 115http://www.evogear.com/outlet/alpine-ski-bindings/rossignol-axium-110-pro-2008.aspxthey are great lighweight bindings that are good for all mountain and really good for park...

K2 silencers are a pretty good all mountain ski for the price of $300, but if you have a high budget then there are many other choices

I got some line invaders in 161 that i used a few yrs, but there the comic book graphic one which has a delam problem. Luckily my dad is good at fixing shit and epoxied them and made them legit. Only problem is the bases are a bit trashed. But i happen to ski at the same place you do, perfect north, i could bring them up one day and you could check them out. They have some marker bindings like the 12.0's or something (again another problem) but i actual didn't have any problems with them except for some minor break problems. They def would last through the season if you plan on skiing a couple of weekends a month. If your interssted send me a PM id sell them for mad cheap like 45-50 bucks.

im looking to spend 300-350 and at the most 400 on skis, i was looking at getting a package deal thing on summit but its been messed up so i cant see what everything is gonna run

Any more sugguestions on ski's with the new updates on prices?

so it looks like you are steering more towards the park...i totally suggest the line anthem...you really can't go wrong with that skis and the griffon bindings....i personally have the jesters but they are the same binding only for bigger people.

The salomon spk kaos boots are the shiznat....i love them and have been using them since they first came out a few years ago...can't go wrong with them!

Now im just stuck making the decision between Invaders and Anthems. I found the 08 Anthems for 250 and same with the Invaders but if i get the invaders i would get the 09 since they are only 50bucks more.

What length do you guys reccomend?

I had trouble finding last years anthems in 171, though you should be trying to get 171's i ended up getting them off someone new in my area, but its going to be hard to find 171

All of last year's anthems i found are 161

i found plenty of last years invaders that are 161 and 178

so i might have to end up getting the invaders if the 161 anthems are gonna be short

i found the cheapest place so far with all sizes of the 08 anthems- $228 and invaders- $172. so now i just need to buckle down and buy one. I found some cool shirts and stuff on d-structure, are they reliable?

Yep very reliable, though they don't have 171's in. I ordered from them a couple days ago last years anthems in 171 because they had a sale and they were only 199, but they called the next day and said the didnt have any more 171's. So if you are looking at d-structure for 171s unless they got more in stock its unlikely you can get them

supposedly anthems have the same construction as invaders but are just a bit more wide, which makes it a little harder to do in park versus invaders but a little more stable outside of the park. can anyone confirm this?

thanks for point that out, on the site they have them listed until you add them to your cart. Thanks for all the info guys, im just going to go with invaders for now until i get better.

I have some px12 bindings set to din 8 and they are rock solid, but I don't jump off of big stuff. The px14,15 and 18 especially are burlier and much stronger. I highly recommend the Look/Rossignol/Dynastar px bindings.

The Tyrolia/Head/Fischer bindings are also supposed to be great, but you want the race diagonal toe, which means you want the Tyrolia/Head Mojo 15 or 18 or the Fischer x17.

In terms of skis, just get a beater park ski that you can abuse the hell out of and then get some badass wide skis later on.

Line Invader 171 ($172): http://www.d-structuresf.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5&products_id=106
Look px12 ($150): http://www.untracked.com/p2202c26b80lr-Froogle-08_dynastar_px_12_jib_ski_bindings_w_brake_options.html
Alpine Vector SX ($300): http://www.untracked.com/p2816c23b13lr-Froogle-09_alpina_vector_sx_freestyle_freeride_ski_boots.html
All that is the cheapest you can go without sacrificing quality. Its good stuff, my friend have the bindings/ skis and love em. I have the boots and they are awesome.
