The best beethoven symphony is the 5th. It's super! Does anyone here listen to any baroque, classical or romantic music to suggest to me?

Vivaldi is definitely good, Shastakovich wrote some awesome orchestral pieces, and Bach is always a classic.

Beethoven's symphonies are wonderful.

I wouldn't expect for many intelligent responses here about classical music Anson, maybe only from JD_May and a few others.

True, though these have been pretty good so far. I have Vivaldi's Four Seasons. I also have FJ Haydn's Trumpet concertos as well as some random other pieces, and the M Haydn's trumpet concerto. I also have the Beethoven violon concerto, some Mozart Piano concertos and some Tschaikowsky sympphonies, but I want MORE!!!

Beethoven 5th, 3rd and 4th movement...So good.

If you are getting into classical music, especially the romantic era, there are a few key classical composers that stand out in my mind.

My favourite is by far Franz Schubert. He was one of the first to introduce program music (music that tells a story). I find his work to be simply incredible. Trout Quintet and Unfinished Symphony are some of his best works.

Liszt is high up there as well on my list. A lot of his pieces are so complex that only a few highly skilled people can play his works. This is because Liszt had quite oversized hands and could run up and down the scales quickly. I think he often uses 1/32 notes in his pieces. Les Preludes is quite a popular piece created by him.

Other great composers are both Mendelssohn's, Schumann, Wagner, Chopin, Brahms, and Tschaikovsky.

Just buy a few "best of" cds from HMV, you can get them 3 for $20. You definatly will not regret it.

hector berlioz is nice but if you want something truely epic then try Nobuo Uematsu. Does the OST for final fantasy games, so sum non-classical stuff in there but is all truely amazing

don't forget mozart's work. he was maybe one of the greatest child prodigies. he started writing music at the age of five.

well i do like the humme trumpet concerto. if you like modern classical my favorite it rhapsody in blue by george gershwin. and another favorite is the african american symphony by Still. i think that is what it is called. I play all of this in band, idk if you like band or orchestra, but i just got done playing Bach but i dont know the name of the top of my head. I also like the Hayden Concerto. Beethovens 5th is very hard to play, but rewarding when played right, we got a 15 min standing ovation and played an ancore, i did like that piece
