Been skiing for 1 year

I started skiing halfway through last season and i just wanted some pointers on how i can progress. Here is my edit. Advice +Khttps://www.newschoolers.com/membervideo/629294.0/End-of-season-edit?s=203245&t=6&o=8

Focus on actually getting good at all aspects of skiing rather than just park. Learn to carve, balance, ski steep runs, etc., then go to the park if you so desire. Don't be that one kid who knows how to ski nothing else but park and gets pissed off when there's powder because the park gets closed.

oh yeah i know that. this was my first year skiing park. Last year i learned all the fundamentals from my friend who races.

pretty much you have to clear the kuckle of the jump and add some grabs. pencil spins are pretty stupid looking. pretty good for your first year though

ohmygod bring up your knees when you spin

dont do 40 pizzas right before the lip, learn to hit features with varying speed or just drop in lower

lean towards the end of the rail

ski switch a ton, the only way to get good at it is by doing it a lot.

ski more front seat in general

This was my third year in the park and I'd say the biggest peace of advice I have is to keep with it. It's gonna take a while before you look really good at it and the more u ski, the better u get. Try to go at least once a weekend and just si as much as u can. You will get better with more practice. Looks good though for first year!

Youve got a really good base to improve on. Start working on grabs and getting bigger spins and flips. Also get really comfortable with rails because those are a massive aspect of the sport

This, hate it when I see kids in the park hucking stuff when they cant even ski out of it. Notice some of the best park skiers were racers, slalom, and mogul skiers before they started park.

You have three core things to work on:

1) Pop. Watch your edit, and every single time you land back seat, its because you aren't popping. You can't do tricks of any sort without having a strong and pronounced pop. You can lose the pop later in your carreer, but wait until you're doing crazy shit before even considering this. If you're hitting a jump or spinning off a rail, make sure to pop.

2) Tuck. Knees to chest is your friend in the world of Newschool skiing. If you spin think "pop-set-tuck" all the time. Bonus points for when your hands find your skis and get a grab going, but you can again wait for later.

3) Don't snowplow. Rookies snowplow because they don't know what else to do. Learn to do the super quick speed check, which is a pivot of both of your skis to one side (similar to a mini-hockey stop) to scrub a bit of speed. THis same logic applies to going switch too.

Above and beyond all else make sure to have fun. Its a great sport, and don't take it too seriously. :)

damn, thats really good for ur first year, attempting 270's on is nuts, keep it up, work on style at some tho, props man straight up

You need to grab man. You aren't terrible but shit dude, why put out an "edit" with 2 minutes of pencil 3's?

You should

-Get more frontseat. You have a very childish backseat stance

-Grab your spins

-Try and work on style and cleanliness before moving on the more difficult tricks. In my personal opinion, a well grabbed stylish 3 looks way better and more interesting than a pencil 5.

Take a lesson. Not park, just a ski lesson, you will get more comfortable on your skis, learn to turn properly (which is more important than pencil spinning a jump) and get better balance. Watch other people, copy them. Don't be afraid to bail A LOT. Coming from someone who has been on skis 2 seasons. Dont worry about being shit, just enjoy being on the snow!

dont take a lesson.

i actually watched your edit because i was bored. the edit was extremely boring with so many repetitive shots, but you have some potential. You were really sending it and actually hitting features fast which is good. definitely build a summer setup and force yourself to learn tons of switchup variations both ways. your jump game will follow if you just hit some bigger jumps with some bigger skis. you can also jump on the tramp a little to learn some new stuff. dont be afraid to learn inverts. but let me reiterate you should definitely summer sesh to get your rail game on point. it will take you a long way

Don't speed check so close to the jump. You should be accelerating as you take off, not slowing down.

Work on rail overall. Just more practice.

Bring your knees up. You can obviously do a 360 and you showed us that repeatedly so now make it look better.

Move to bigger jumps. (Not necessarily bigger spins just more air time. Make them last longer so you can work on your knees and grabs)

Add grabs

Just be really comfortable with spinning

Work on some fundamentals. Just carve and maybe some one footed skiing just to practice balance.

Overall pretty good for first year. Keep it up man.

Yea dog but a tip of the day is:

STYLE GETS YOU A LONG WAY

doesn't matter what kind just make it your own that's why the sport is called "FREESTYLE"
