Beefiest, strongest, nicest, most awesome bindings

unless he threw them out of an airplane into chemical waste, they didnt break.

and if they did break like how i mentioned about, salomon would probably still warranty them.
 
yeah its pretty difficult to break one of the best all metal bindings in less than a week. Im calling BS too, maybe they were 914's or 912's?
 
ummm sollys blow, half my friends have broke them, one even ripped the titanium strip in half on his.

Tyrolia bindings are the best bindings you can buy right now, now if only they could come up with miracle brakes that wont break.
 
Nope. They were 916. This was a long time ago, so maybe they're better built now, but I'm serious, those things fell the fuck apart on him. Not to mention my two pairs of 914s sucked mad balls and broke all the time.
 
gonna have to say p18 and ^4frnt deadbolts r made by tyrolia, havent tryed those, but i used to have tyrolias and they were pretty nice
 
I've heard of too many people busting toe wings off vist bindings. I've heard of 3 people who've busted them off 816's, and a pair of 1018's toe wings snapping off. Not sure if they differ in construction between the different DIN's, but they are from the "Beefiest, strongest, nicest, most awesome bindings"
 
Those old vist ones weren't for sure, but the new ones are tanks. Hjorlefson rides them and he is the pickiest person ever since he is worried about bindings failing where he goes to ski. I would say the beefiest are the FKS 185 or the NEW Deadbolts. I broke the titanium track in half on my Solly's just yesterday, but they had a good run so it's okay.
 
He rode 916's before. Now that 4frnt has switched to the tyrolia mold, Eric has switched to the deadbolts, but he never rode the vist ones.

I've heard bad things about solomon bindings, even 916s, but FKS 185s have alot less negative feedback on them so I'd say them.
 
What bad things have you heard? All I've heard is that the toe wing screws back out a bit over time, so every so often you just have to tighten them again. Pretty small sacrifice I'd say for a bomber binding. Apparently the older toe wing screws were ALOT better, because they had an individual screw for each wing that had to be adjusted separately, so they would back out more slowly than todays with the simultaneous wing adjustment.
 
With dins to 12 not the strongest or beefiest, but getting my vote for most awesome

I've never had a problem with my Tyrolia's. My Look P12's are heavy and pieces of shit, IMO. They don't click in all the way and I have to physically pull up the back of it.
 
I agree with everyone else in the thread, solly's fucking blow. They never release properly. I have look p12 pivots, they work pretty good, not the sturdiest but they release smoothly atleast.
 
from what ive heard that happens with alot of look toe pieces. something about the travel of the heel? ive found just stomping real hard works fine
 
It happens because the heel on the axial/pivot bindings doesn't have a ton of forward pressure. They develop slop quickly. I don't think it happens with p15/18's or the fks series though. Rossi/look solved that with the axial²/px. But now every ones's crying about pre-releases with them.
 
wow i meant heel pieces not toe pieces but ive def had the smae problem with pxs, where it doesnt pop up all the way on its own. i went to the shop assuming it was forward pressure, but he looked at it and said it was all good, it just happens
 
That's weird, maybe you don't knock al the snow off your boots or something. I haven't seen that happen with px's. I heard once that that was one of the reasons look made it a dildo, so that it was easy to grab and pull up. Might have been full of shit though.
 
well pivot fks (tanks) are really hard to find these days.

I have the PX version of FKS 155s, and not only did I break both the AFDs out of them, but just ripped the heel piece out of the track last week.....so not really a big rossi/look fan anymore.
 
916s and 920's are the strongest (s900's ect as well) they are also really good bindings

P18s are not quite as strong but still all metal and overall my favorite binding out there unfortunatly they are no longer made.

PX 18s are also supper strong but not as good a binding, (still a great binding just heavy)

the all metal Head/Fischer/Tyrolia bindings 20 din ones and this year's 17 din ones. are also pretty strong

markers 20+ din bindings are good too. I would be stoked on some 30 din ones, but overall not as smooth a release.

STH 16s are great bindings just not as strong as 916s

This years head/fischer/tyrolia 15 din bindings are half decent, the older ones suck because they have that dumb side release heal that causes more prereleases then the marker biometric toe.

Some people like the Jester, I don't I want something a little stronger personally. Other markers are plain dumb.

Speaking of dumb lets talk about Vist. Stay away. (also rebranded as Nordica and former 4frnt)

And for the guy who said he broke some 916's I suggest you set them right next time.
 
True that.Something must have been adjusted wrong or they were faulty. Seth trusts them, and it took a MASSIVE drop off like a 150 foot cliff to the feet to break the toe, as witnessed here, at approximately 3:11 in:
Eric Hjorleifson also trusted them, but he is now on deadbolt 15/18's(essentially tyrolia)
 
Nope, Seth uses 916's. And I said that Eric USED TO ski the 916's, but now he's on the deadbolts. And I'm not 100% certain that Seth skis 916's, only about 90% certain because Seth skis on a DIN of 14. In case you're wondering how I know that, at freshtival, they had this little trivia game, and Seth's DIN was one of the questions, and 14 was the answer. So if Seth did ski 920's, he would be on the lowest DIN, which is in general not recommended. Besides, I'm also fairly certain the only difference between 916's and 920's is the spring.
 
i've never had a bad moment on my mojos, both 15s and 20s. that is to say every time they've released it's been because of a big fall and not releasing would end my knees. never once did they release when i didn't need them to.

now, salomon z12s on the other hand were shit- literally last week i landed a 3 a little bit back seat- not a bail but a bit washed out, i certainly didn't think i was gonna go down. to my irritation my ski pooped off and i ate shit only to find that when i picked up my ski the heelpiece had fucking shattered. at first i thought it had ripped out with the screws but i looked closer and saw that the screws were in place and the binding had literally ripped through the screwhead and shattered. shocking build quality, and as i say, hardly any impact at all...

overall i would say that most brands have decent high-din bindings:

916s and up, p15s, fks etc, tyrolia >15s, duke/jester. these are all fairly tried and tested. don't like vist much. if you don't need a high din, i think p10, p12, fks120 are far better than any other 12 din. if you can't get those then px/axial are the next best thing. all other 12 din bindings i've found to be plastic and not fantastic.
 
ive had s912s, marker 12.0 frees or w/e there called, and fks 155s. ive been skiing on fks for like 3 years now and not a single problem. i own 6 pairs.
