Becoming a Patroler

Alright next year I'm thinking about trying to join ski patrol. I was hoping there might be a patroler or two out there that could clear some things up.

Like what is the overall process? I looked on my mountain's website and it looks kinda confusing.

I've been injurred a few times and i just thought it would just be a nice thing to do. Kind of a way of giving back. I'm also interested in going on to med school, i thought it would be some good experience. Not to mention the free pass is nice.

Anyone help me out with some info?

EMT certified and able to ski the whole mountain in any condition.

helps to have OFA 3 but thats only if u wanna be a pro patroller

I'm not a patroller, but a little interested just like you and thats all they told me when I inquired

you definetly need some medical background, but they teach you alot too. and basic stuff like good skiing ability or body condition

ok, but do i need to be fully EMT certified or is it like a separate Ski patrol certification, with seperate classes and what not.

just regular EMT as far as I know you can take it at your community college, it is a pretty tough class, I guess anything specific to the mountain you'll learn on the job
