Becoming a cop

It seems like everyone who wants to be a cop has a pretty long list of criminal offenses. Does anyone know what you can and can't do before you're a cop. Note... I don't want to be a cop, this is purely out of curiosity.

you need to suck a bunch of d so you can get your own sucked one day. unless youre a lady cop, then you need to act like a bitch to make up for the fact that you dont have a penis

there were a few people that went through the academy with me that had dui's on their records, those were from way back when though. obviously nothing too severe but some stuff is expected, most people who become cops were at on time "on the fence". ruh roh

my answer was very real, im not even kidding. everybody who becomes a police wants the power that comes with it. if they wanted to save lives theyd find a cure for aids or something useful instead of giving me a ticket for parking for more than 4 hours on a public street. and no it was not a parking bitch that gave me the ticket, i stalked the cop with my extreme stalking abilities and found out he lives on the street where i got a ticket. im still in my planning phases as to what i should do with the large quantities of dog shit ive been collecting in my backyard

ya fuck the police because you violated a state mandated parking law and the police officer did his job.....FUCK HIM dude your so right. All he wants is power dude. Fuck the police

you dont want to be a cop. you really just want to be a barney. its way better. you get to dance. (see related thread)

you wont regret your decision.

aspiring cops need to prove that they can handle a gun. Nothing says I can handle a gun like first degree murder.

I am becoming a police officer and currently enrolled in Criminal Justice at a community college. No, having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify you from becoming a police officer, but it definetly doesnt help your chances. Almost all felonys will disqualify you, and a few high end misdemeanors. Violent criminal acts are the ones that will disqualify you suchas assault. This is because they dont want someone who has a past of violent acts in possession of a firearm.

To become a police officer, although it is not required, you should enroll in a 2 year Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement class at a local college and then pursue a police academy in your area and they will usually help you find a police department looking to hire new recruits. The school i am going to is a 2 year degree and the last 6 weeks of the program is Police Academy, and as soon as you get your degree you are already permitted to become a police officer in the state of Michigan.

or have a relative with power. my grandfather in law is desperate to get another cop in the family, and constantly badgers me to join the force. he is really high up, therefore there is nothing i would have to do to get the job except not act like a sociopath during interviews.

I don't live in a state therefore there is no state law. and also I still know where he lives and I know for a fact that he takes pride in a nice lawn and pool. hmmmm

It may not require as much schooling as a lawyer does, but police officers put their life on the line every day and deal with the scum of the country, while a lawyer sits in an office all day long, you just have to decide which job fits you better.

Not entirely sure of the point you're trying to make, but most cops in Europe carry guns (not in the UK though). We almost certainly have less gun crime than America though.

and he also takes pride in doing what his job tells him to do. so why don't you grow up, leave the dudes lawn and pool alone, and don't park on the street for more than 4 hours...

oh and i'm sure trespassing on private property will have a worse punishment than a parking ticket. especially when it's a cops house...

Well there's this measure known as 'per capita' whereby you can estimate things like that by dividing the total rate by the population, thus magically making all countries measurable against each other! And guess what, America still has way higher gun crime/murder rates than Europe and the UK.

My town has kind of like a cop in training position that is a feeder into real policehood. They're called community service officers and they walk around town writing tickets to people the minute they've been parked in a certain spot for over 2 hours. Other than that they just stand around all day thinking they're the shit while their only real power lies in their ticket booklet. I think in order to become a cop, they teach you to be an ass early on.

Honestly i will prolly do what the cops did when my dad was younger, I will just make them stomp it out into the ground unless its more than a half ounce. Then im gonna have to do something about it.

But yeah ill be pretty chill about it because i myself have a probation violation for smoking marijuana on my record, along with a Disturbing the peace witch is a pretty crime, a minor misdemeanor. But it was originally Aggravated Assualt, which is a high end felony..which would of fucked up my whole future and would of never been able to become a cop.
